permission is denied Let's see from a terminal: $ java -version $ java -jar drjava.jar # you said this works, right? $ ls -l drjava.desktop # or whatever your launcher is named The launcher should have correct permissions by default, but I bet it needs an absolute path to the jarfile. java -jar /fu...

Re: Installing JDK JRE + Dr.Java + Android SDK (Eclispe + SD

i'm using linux mint cinnamon and i already saw jre7 installed, but will that work for dr.java? or do i need to install the downloaded jre file? I'm not familiar with Dr.Java; you might need a jdk for the compiler. Eclipse has its own. Android will require jdk, and Eclipse is optional. You might fi...

Re: How to speed Cinnamon up.. or Chrome?

is there a way to have "clean memory" without restarting (such as logging out)? Logging out [of the gnome- or cinnamon-session] will free those resources. This might be worth a try: launch steam directly from the display manager (login screen) -- http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?...

Have patience. I'm sure the fix will make it into the next release, and you'll have it soon.

If it's really a problem for you, leave feedback in the comments, so the devs know.

Re: Is there a list of program versions for LMDE?

Is there any way to see what versions of programs LMDE will install? For example, what version of Gimp will be installed? Or LibreOffice? One way would be to install LMDE and see what I get. I was hoping for a list on a web site somewhere but I haven't been able to find it. Mostly Debian "test...

Which target file is it looking for? Am I missing it? My mistake -- I forgot there's a suffix. (Tip: any time you're typing in a terminal, try tab to complete the command. If there are several options, double-tab will list them.) me@altoid-14-Cinnamon ~/Desktop/cinnamon-weather-1.7.3 $ ./install.sh

Wow, that steam thing sucks :( . Is it possible to modify the package (extract it and then make it a .deb again) so it doesn't depend on jockey? The repo is here . Remove steam:i386 . The 1.0.0.35 upgrade is a transitional package for the new steam-launcher . Extract the steam-launcher .deb. Edit D...

I downloaded and extracted it into .local/share/cinnamon/applets. It shows up as checked in the menu, and apt-get install gettext libglib2.0-bin shows both packages as installed and current. ./install yields an error message that no such command exists, either at / or at /home/username/.local/share...

Re: Linux Mint Debian XFCE edition

where can I find the latest version of LM Debian XFCE and is it still properly supported? if not I probably just use Linux Mint XFCE because I prefer the lightweight and snappy experience. A recent (UP6) spin of the unofficial LMDE XFCE iso is here: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=61&am...
