Re: Flash not working with Youtube but working with other si

That is another reason why I went back to Mint 7 which is doing everything and still have 317 updates which I do not seem to need. You Tube videos work just fine. Download helper 4.8.1 works very well with Mint 7, FF.

Re: Do you run Linux as your sole operating system?

Most of the time I run Mint 7. I run Vista when I convert You Tube videos to MP3 for my player and my girlfriend's player. Free Real Player works out of the box. Never could get any application to work in Mint. I want to run programs, not the operating system. Other than that, no Windows. With the e...

Re: Just Instaled Linux Mint 10 and it will not allow login.

How could you confirm the login info if you cannot log in. This tells me you have a wrong name or password. Been there, done that, have the T shirt. I think I was off by one letter. Did a reinstall and wrote down the login info before starting the install. Since Mint 10 keeps bugging me about loggin...

Re: How do you setup Mint?

Mint 7. Single click, res, 1024 X 768. FF, disable default add ons, add flash blocker, download helper for videos, Ad block plus. I recently had to reinstall Mint 7 and on a hunch, no updates. Mint 7 runs just fine. I found out Mint 10 is problematic and FF 3.5 very slow for some URLs. I power up Vi...

Re: Mintenance root password Not solved now

don't know if this will work with mint [haven't tried it] open terminal.. type sudo -su then enter, then type passwd and enter this may enable you to CHANGE the administrator boot password wizard First, it is NOT a caps lock issue. I shut down the PC and later booted it up again and the same admini...

Re: Maintenance root password SOLVED

Ok, I let the PC set for an hour in the off condition and just booted it up. No problems.
I had tried four times when I found the problem and I could not get it to work.
I do not have any CD"s with me.
Apparently this is not an easy thing to overcome in Linux.

Thanks for trying.

Mintenance root password

I am at my girlfriends and my laptop with mint 7 has a problem. The battery sometimes does not stay latched. I had an improper shut down and now it wants a root password to do a check. The password I use when booting the pc does not work right now.
Her xp pc is slow.
thanks.

Re: Staying logged in Solved

Was your default screensaver setting unchanged? Go to Menu/Preferences/Screensaver and click off the login and activate boxes. and assuming that works, then modify the settings to something you want. As I recall, default was to blank after 10 mins and require a login password to restart. Very excel...

Re: Linux Mint Annoyances

One annoyance I have right now is no sound from my webcam with mint 10.. Cheese is ok for video but no sound. I would have expected webcam support out of the box. My friends Linux based mini laptop has a webcam application that came with the pc. he did not have to download it from anywhere. Sound is...

Re: Staying loged in

Ran into another issue. I tried the fix and then tried to save but get a message that the program save is not installed yet. This is beginning to remind me of what Windows was like at one time.
Tomorrow is another day.

Ok, thanks but I never, ever set anything to login automatically. Keeps me from developing bad habits.
In all my forums, I always log out after a message. My way.

Staying logged in Solved

My laptop that has 10, Gnome on it logs itself out if I do nothing for a certain time. The only things I have changed from the install is single click and screen resolution. This quite annoying as I have to enter my password again. Is Mint trying to protect me from myself? I did some forum searching...

Re: Unable to access 2 websites, ISP blaming Linux

Once in a while I have that issue at a place that has free wireless. The Windows and Apple users have no problem. I just go find another nearby place that works. Many now have passwords. There is one place in the town I live in that never works with my Linux laptop.

Re: Installing 10, 64 bit

its asking you to set a root partition or the / then it will bark for the /home set up those 2 and it will proceed No idea what you mean. When I installed 10 after 7, I did not have that problem. Mint did dual boot very easily. Apparently triple boot is not intuitively obvious like dual boot is. I ...
