Re: Recent Update Makes LMDE Gnome Desktop...

OK folks, I have found a solution to this issue. I ended up searching the Ubuntu forums and came up with the following, remove from under /home/user name the following files; .gconf, .gconfd, .gnome2. After removing these files, do a reboot and the Gnome desktop will reappear but any modifications w...

I am using the PAE kernel version from Liquorix, and the newer kernel upgraded but I am still booting into the PAE.

Thanks for trying.
Going to get some sleep so I can attack this with a clear head tomorrow.

Re: Recent Update Makes LMDE Gnome Desktop...

Think I said use new.
And after that, and a reboot is when it all started.

Doing a reinstall of the Gnome desktop et. al. does not cure the problem.

I have since installed KDE and LXDE to at least give me option when logging in.

Re: LMDE 9 iso, upgrading to new packages. Will it break it?

Illuminati2012, I started using LMDE when it first came out, and since then I have just used the normal "updating when it is released" method. I have not experienced the problems others have with the LMDE .iso 2010112 release.
So, if you don't mind a lot of updates, install LMDE 201009 and have fun.

Re: Install KDE 4.5, remove Gnome?

Go to this website - http://psychocats.net/ubuntu/purekde - and follow the directions given.
Yes I know it refers to Ubuntu, but it should get you where you want to be with a pure KDE system.

Re: Trying Mint 10?

Since 12/2005, I had been using Ubuntu and then Mint/Ubuntu. When this LMDE release came out, I put it in a Virtual Box testing environment, played with it and liked what I saw. Blew away my Ubuntu partitions, repartitioned my drive and installed LMDE. Stability is amazing me, and programs installed...

Re: Installing Mint Debian with Ubuntu /home partition

Could this be done by simply changing the /etc/apt/sources.list?
I really don't want to do a re-install.

Re: Opera & Flash

I was having problems with Opera and Flash. Played around with it with a variety of fixes, and it was still buggy. Then Friday (5 September) Opera came out with 9.60 BETA RC1 - http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/2008/09/05/9-60-beta-1-rc This contains the following: UNIX: Additional fixes to flash...

Re: Grub error 2

Welcome to Mint Transitman ?? This seems like nonsense to me :) - but if it works.... No Ubiqity - the installer - puts grub where it tells you it puts grub. Ubuntu and Mint use the same installer If you had chosen hd(1,1) from the beginning this would not have happened, unless you changed the disk...

Re: Gutsy slow login

Login on gutsy is slow after your name and password are entered. Is this the same with Darnya? I just want to know before I upgrade from Celena. Thanks I just came over from Gutsy and have not noticed a lag time between entering name/password and the system booting into a ready to go state. It seem...

Re: Grub error 2

I was getting the same error in the last 24 hours. All of my drives were ok, and I even went and re-installed Ubuntu Gutsy, which automatically configured the Grub paramaters for me. What is happening is that the installer for Linux Mint is not correctly installing the boot loader, placing the notat...
