Re: Libreoffice total crash

On my test computer, with Mint 19.3, I set up timeshift and installed "ppa-purge". Next I did "sudo ppa-purge ppa:libreoffice/ppa" That was all successful so then I reinstalled libreoffice from the software manager. Again, successful and I have libreoffice (version 6.0.7.3) back ...

Re: Libreoffice total crash

Unfortunately, I am not using Timeshift (Yet)
And I think I have tried so many things to fix the problem that I have permanently screwed up the works.
By the way, now I am not sure which version I was using, only that I got it from a PPA. Probably 6.3xxx

allanr --- Are you using the Libreoffice installed with Mint or are using a version installed from a PPA like I am?
Just curious

Libreoffice total crash

I have been using Libreoffice 6.3.5.2 (installed from PPA) in Mint 19.3. An update today failed, complaining about broken packages. Libreoffice no longer worked after that. I cannot install the version that came with 19.3. I did a lot of internet searching and tried a bunch of things that were suppo...

Post Script

I haven't purchased a Mintbox3 Pro but I did buy a Geforce GTX 1650 video board (The Mintbox3 Pro has a GTX 1660ti) and can report that both Mint 19.2 and Mint 19.3 found the correct Nvidia driver (435) and the driver automatically recognized my LG Ultrawide 1080 x 2560 monitor. I will mark my origi...

Re: [Solved] How to downgrade to kernel 4.15.0-76

OK - my problem was caused by having two bootable hard drives, one with Mint 19.2 and the other with Mint 19.3. I was booting from the drive with Mint 19.2 and selecting 19.3 in the grub menu. No matter how many times I did a grub update while running 19.3, I was not changing the boot grub. When boo...

Re: How to downgrade to kernel 4.15.0-76

OK - the grub menu shows 5.0.0-32 and 5.0.0-37. I know that these are not compatible with nvidia. 4.15.0-76 and 5.3.0-28 are both installed. I uninstalled 5.0.0-32, did an update, an upgrade, and did an "update-grub". On reboot, the advanced options still shows 5.0.0-32 and 5.0.0-37 as the...

[Solved] How to downgrade to kernel 4.15.0-76

An install of Mint Mate 19.3 has kernel 5.0.0-37, not even 5.3.0-28. This is not compatible with nvidia. How do I downgrade to 4.15.0-76? Doing a search on the subject, I find lots of instructions that say to downgrade but how do I accomplish that downgrade? I have never had to mess with the kernel ...

Mintbox3 Pro video modes [Answered]

Does anyone know if the new Mintbox3 Pro video output can be set to 1080 x 2560?
If it can, I may try to convince the CFO (wife) I should buy one.

Mint 19.3 session crash

Using Mint 19.3 Mate, installed from the beta and kept updated. I have had what I would term "session" crashes, where the screen goes black and then a login box comes up. Session restarts when I log in but of course unsaved changes to files are lost. This has happened 4 times when I was co...

Thank you - just what I wanted! The relationship to "tiling" wasn't exactly intuitive, at least to me.

Unwanted Full Screen [SOLVED]

Using Mint Mate 19.1, when I move and window and it bumps the top of the screen the window goes to full screen. This may be a "feature" but to me it is just an annoyance. I should know how to make this stop but my old brain seems to be down to only one processing core and that one is runni...

This problem occurred after an update but I don't know what was updated. My secondary computer, also running Mate 18.3, was fully updated today and does not show the problem.

Re: Mint Menu doesn't show applications

gm10: I tried your suggestion. Got the message "rm: cannot remove '/home/jn/.config/menus/mate-applications.menu': No such file or directory".
I haven't made any attempts to modify the menu or its structure.

Mint Menu doesn't show applications

Using Mate 18.3, today I find that Mint Menu's "All Applications" selection show nothing at all. Selecting an item from "Applications" shows nothing at all. This has all been working correctly for several months, until today. I added the Mate Main Menu to the panel and it seems t...

Re: Mint 19.1 (Mate) not printing to HP Officejet 8210 [Not really solved but useable]

To rlindau: I tried a whole bunch of things too, including several re-installs. I didn't play with Mint 19 enough to know if this was a problem there or not but all the print stuff in Mint 18.3 works just fine. It appears that printing from applications works OK, at least the ones I have tried, but ...

Replying to my own problem:

The Officejet 8210 DOES print from LibreOffice Writer and from Gnumeric . It does NOT, however, do a test print from the Properties page. Every time I try to send a test print, it appears that a page is being sent and I can hear the printer getting into position to print it but nothing prints. Jerry

Mint 19.1 (Mate) not printing to HP Officejet 8210 [Not really solved but useable]

I have not been able to print to my networked Officejet 8210 with Mint 19.1 Mate. Something is sent to the 8210 and there are no error indications but nothing prints. This printer works perfectly with Mint 18.3. Mint 19.1 does print properly to my networked HP Color Laserjet 451. Added information: ...

LSUSB shows two of my USB 3.0 Sticks as:

ID 13fe:6000 Kingston Technology Company Inc.

I Googled these as suggested but I fail to find any useful information about the specific drives
