Re: How did you all discover Linux ?

How did i discover Linux? I got 14 ipc's at my work. They needed an upgrade. The only thing they needed was an internet browser. The harddisk in the ipc was an compact flash cart with only 128 MB memory. The internal memory was nothing more then 64 MB and a part of that was used for video memory. Wi...

Re: How noisy is your computer?

My PC at home is quite noisy, really need to do something about it.
My notebook is not noisy at all, which is fine because i use that one at night.

At my work i mostly use terminals/thin clients, they are silent because they don have any rotating components. :)

Re: Does anyone here work with computers?

I work as a system administrator and don't use math that often in my work.
Learning math at school is a big con though.

When learning math you will learn to think in a different way. And i use that many times.

Re: What computer media do you read?

Couple of years ago i read 'Computer thuis en in bedrijf' much. They changed their name and began to write more for the starters so i kinda dropped it.

At my work we have many Dutch and English magazines. My boss reads them all, I don't. Sometimes 'Cloud computing' or 'Computer idee'.

Re: Will Linux get significant market share?

Not by a long shot.
It's not pre installed, it doesn't have billions of money to spend and there are way to many distributions.

Re: Reasons You Hate Windows

I don't really hate Windows but there are some things about Windows/Microsoft that I dislike. Asking tons and tons of money for all kinds of licensing. Pay for exchange, pay for the mailbox of a user, pay for the outlook installation of a user..I don't mind paying something for my software but there...

New Linux user

Greetings all! I'm Wim from the Netherlands and i'm kinda new in the world of Linux. I have some old experience with Ubuntu and Suse through school but never bothered to do anything with it (didn't like the teacher). Six months ago I got my diploma in IT and started to work as a System administrator...
