Re: Baddies - Border Patrol USA

Welcome to Canada then 8)

Now that you will be living in Canada, you can go anywhere you want, our vacation last year took us to Cuba.

If you get sick, no need to mortgage you house or your life either.

Re: Baddies - Border Patrol USA

I was referring to your avatar ...

I live near Montreal and we don't go to the US much anymore because of the hassles you are referring to.

For example, on our resent trip to Australia, we switched planes in Vancouver not LA.

Re: Baddies - Border Patrol USA

I am a frequent traveler between Toronto to NY since I am still waiting for residency in Canada before I can move up permanently. I'm outraged at how bad this is getting! It's bad enough when I come back from Canada to get detained for questioning every other visit for reasons I can't understand, b...

Re: MINT on a Eeepc 701 4g

I installed XP on mine last month.
Asus provides drivers on the dvd.
My goal was to then transfer the install to a sdhc card and boot from it but I was not totally successful so I gave up ... for now.

Re: MINT on a Eeepc 701 4g

I have a EeePC 701 4GB. I am running Xandros on the SSD and have installed Mandriva 2008.1 spring (gnome) on a 16GB class 6 Patriot sdhc card. Mandriva is the 1st distro to officially support the Eee out of the box and was released a few weeks ago. I have installed grub on the sdhc card and have lef...

Re: installed hardy, can't wait until stable elyssa is released!

I also installed on two systems today, so far so good. I had an issue with Mint concerning fuzzy text which I could never solve. Crystal clear on ubuntu 8) Anyway, I used this version which has many apps preinstalled along with support for MP3, dvd, xvid etc. http://thepiratebay.org/tor/4153895/ubun...

Re: Impressions of Linux

I think that maybe 90% of the time I mention Linux, the response I get is complete silence! Occasionally, someone will want to talk about it a little bit -- the last guy I mentioned it to asked if I was able to do all of the things I'd normally do in Windows. I guess I'm running into the wrong peop...

If your mobo don't have support for sata2, you can still use it by using a jumper on the hdd to make it run at sata speeds.

I do this all the time ...

I was looking at the new 900 with the 9'' screen but I think Asus may be going over the price point people are willing to pay with this one. http://www.techradar.com/products/computing/laptops-portable-pcs/laptops/asus-eee-pc-900-318536/review The 701 surf with 4GB that has XP home installed for 487...

Re: Asus Eee PC

I have been waiting for a distro that has support for the Eee built in and while I was on vacation, Mandriva 2008.1 came out with official support. So I installed 2008.1 on my 16GB SDHC class 6 Patriot card from my USB dvd-rom drive. Had issues making partitions in manual ... ended up with 4GB ext3 ...
