Re: Conky not playing well?

Here is the shot of it with your work in progress: http://i.imgur.com/796yBsY.png NICE CAR! Some questions: 1. Do you normally use light coloured backgrounds? Or like me - change constantly? 2. Do you want a transparent background or a 'shaded - see through' background. I recommend shaded text - ea...

Re: Conky not playing well?

How wide is your screen? sometimes i can hold it in my palm :mrgreen: I started laughing then thought 'tablet' or a new phone ... so yea, in my palm sounds good. But when I'm sitting at my dining room table and hold my has out it's just a little wider then my palm. :lol: i have no clue about new or...

Re: Conky not playing well?

The script you are using now is so much different than the one I was using, will have to learn much more to pull that off. It was meant as an example, not an actual working conky. I can't just use that old script in some way? seems as though the new script you made is much more complicated, and I'm...

Re: Conky not playing well?

That was a lot of work Sector11, and I feel bad because I'm lost. I'll keep working with it to see what I can do. Let's simplify it. http://s20.postimg.org/913izcitl/2016_08_27_19_48_31_Scrot11.jpg You can make one long line in conky like this. Now is the time for all good men to come the aid of th...

Re: Conky not playing well?

In the codeof the post above this you'll see (dots) used }<10}··${cpu cpu2} to represent spaces 001% to 009% has two, 010 to 099% has 1 and 100% none. But this is a conky under construction I want to see the spaces. Normally I use "spaces" like: }<10} ${cpu cpu2} or I will use a grey colour for 0's ...

Re: Conky not playing well?

Sector11, this one looks super so far! If you want to show me the needed changes to put that text into a long consecutive line like that I will try to take over. Sorry - I thought I read that you were going to do it and then a birthday, an anniversary and a running around for a sick MIL took me awa...

RE: Weather in conky

Or you could take a look at » Conky weather+moon scripts (Accuw/WUndergr/NWS/MoonGiant). Teo is excellent at staying on top of things. The following is a combination of two of the scripts.

Re: Conky Showoff thread

First off, I'm enjoying our interactions about things conky. Thank you. Now I finally understand why you use pre_exec . That should almost warrant a bug report to make documentation more clearer in my mind. ${click light on} And something that should be included in v1.10, IMHO. BTW, the link you use...

Re: Conky Showoff thread

Interesting results on your end. Why would exec take up so many resources on its own if it's not supposed to be doing anything after a first round? I would like to see limited testing for execi though or would it be roughly similar to execpi? Who says "it's not supposed to be doing anything after a...

Re: Conky Showoff thread

Saving CPU Resources in Conky And the results are in ... a conky using update_interval 1 (unchanged during the test) with 50 x ${pre_exec ...} commands had a little CPU usage section added at the bottom ... like this: ${color6}${membar 0,42}${color5} BunsenLabs Hydrogen (Jessie) ${color6}${membar 0...

Re: Conky Showoff thread

@ ostracized One right for me - one right for you. We're doing well. I have a couple of conkys here that have a LOT of ${execpi ...} commands I think I'll test. ${execpi 1 ...} ${execpi 10 ...} ${execpi 1000 ...} ${execpi 86400 ...} and see how each affect the CPU usage. EDIT: Back later with resul...

Re: Conky Showoff thread

"loop" I think, may refer to "update_interval". Not 100% sure though. You're right. Confirmed on my box that ${execp sensors|grep 'Core 1'|cut -c18-24} updates every second -- the update interval in my config. Wanna know some bad news? This also applies to our newly talked-about execpi variable as ...

@ ostracized RE: awk I'm horrible with awk and sed commands. But you can use conky commands with sed: The centre calendar: ${goto 175}${execpi 900 LAR=`date +%-d`; ncal -bh | sed '2d' | sed -e '1d' -e 's/\<'$LAR'\>/${color5}&${color}/' | sed ':a;N;$!ba;s/\n/\n${goto 175}/g'}${color} http://s20.post...

Re: Conky Showoff thread

Also, I would be cautious about using the word "average" here because that might get taken out of context and just use "total cpu usage" instead (per the old variable page on SF.) $cpu = ${cpu cpu0} = "total cpu utilization of the system" = "mean value among all cores of the system" ...I would thin...

Re: Symbols or Icons not Showing up in Conky

If that's the same conky you have in the Conky Showoff thread then you are probably missing the StyleBats font.

Code: Select all

${font StyleBats:size=12}g${font}
and also: OpenLogos

Code: Select all

${font OpenLogos:size=12}J${font}

Re: Conky Showoff thread

RE: ${cpu} - ${cpu cpu0} = average Ok well that's weird, because I didn't touch that from the original authors, which means all of them were unaware of this since 2009? In a word: Yes! Even though the conky variable page has explained it for as long as I have been a conky user (2007), "man conky" i...

Re: Conky Showoff thread

Hi ostracized In the LUA script you are using: { name='cpu', arg='cpu0', blah blah ... }, { name='cpu', arg='cpu1', blah blah ... }, which means you are showing the "average" of your two CPU's and CPU 1 - or if you're running an Intel chip CORES To show both of your cores/cpus change that to: { name...

Re: Conky Showoff thread

Thank you ... try this:

Code: Select all

CPU: ${execi 86400 cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep 'model name' | sed -e 's/model name.*: //'| uniq | cut -c -5} \
${execi 86400 cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep 'model name' | sed -e 's/model name.*: //'| uniq | cut -c 19-26}
You should see:

Code: Select all

CPU: Intel i7-4770K
