Re: Best Monitoring Tool? [Voltages, Temps, Frequencies]

Agree with all41. Sensors and conky is the way to go: sudo apt-get install lm-lensors hddtemp Then read this: Using sensors and I recommend METHOD 3 - platform. Read the bottom part regarding sensors and inxi -s :) Looking in /sys/devices/platform/f71882fg.2560/ (in my case) anything that ends with:...

Re: Conky Showoff thread

@ trytip - re the new conky: I agree, it's LUA based, and slower. It does come with a converter though - that works on most old conkys.
Still - it's a learning curve. I'm staying with nine as long as I can

@pcpunk - sorry, a few doctors took me away for a bit. Will get back to your two liner. :)

Re: Conky not playing well?

@ Sector11, The machine I'm working on here is the Toshiba in my Signature. My HP is the first on the list, and is also dual core, but as you can see Intel based. I don't know what I did before with Transparency now lol, tried so many things. Don't think Pseudo-Transparency was ever tried with the ...

Re: Conky Showoff thread

That's what I thought, way over my head LOL. I can see how this is addicting and fun! :D I was using this script to start conky in home. !#/bin/bash sleep 10 && conky; pcpunk Like I said you can eliminate the "script" and just use: conky -p 10 and if by chance you had two conkys the second 'could b...

Re: Conky not playing well?

for the line own_window_type normal use own_window_type override this way when you click the show desktop your conky won't disappear (use pseudo-transparent when using override) Is this a KDE thing with compiz? I'm running: OpenBox and compton I use "normal" and have no problems with using true tra...

Re: Conky not playing well?

Conky Manager Installed, just need to get some safe Widgets downloaded, the included ones are not enough to play around with. Can you guys suggest some simple Dual Core CPU Profiles/Widgets? What do you want to do with your "Dual Core" - is it an Intel? or AMD? I have a triple core AMD so some thin...

Re: Conky Showoff thread

@ Sector11, nice work! Thank you Don't know what you are talking about here, "run 16 on boot, read three and shut them down etc." And the next sentence also, why would I need to killall and restart four? I just want to either create one that will span the top of screen (with the Conky I have) or ru...

Re: Conky Showoff thread

Question: I thought I read it is possible to run multiple Conky's? or configure one to go across the top of screen. I'm looking for something simple incorporating what I have now. Here is my Thread if it would be better to post there. https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=212&t=224986 I have...

Re: Conky--Reverse downloadspeed graph direction

Looking at the "graph-widget" I linked to earlier I see:
Another parameter is inverse, if set to true, the graph is drawn from right to left
So that answers that question. Yes, all41, it is possible. :)

A negative scale ... ? Someone asked about that not to long ago ... I'm not sure ... check the links. Something in my head is going - yes, I've seen that too! Here's a nice link for someone wanting to learn a little LUA for conky HOW TO : using lua scripts in conky Unfortunately the #! forum is loc...

Re: Conky--Reverse downloadspeed graph direction

I would like to reverse the motion so the most recent events appear on the left end of the graph and move toward the right end---like an oscilloscope presentation. Can this be done? I don't know of a way to do it with native conky commands but it can be done with LUA scripts. Start here with wlourf...

Re: Conky Showoff thread

@ mzsade Well, this is a strange one. I can get your lua clock running in my test conky (conky v1.9 format) running conky v1.90 or v1.10. BUT it will not run in your conky - running v1.10 - - - please understand I'm not finished testing either. http://s20.postimg.org/wg66wbikp/2016_06_09_13_21_37_S...

Re: Conky Showoff thread

@ kevin3331 - You're doing fine keep going forward. As for weather stuff, take a look at: » Conky weather+moon scripts (Accuw/WUndergr/NWS/MoonGiant) by TeoBigusGeekus. Pick one or two or three. I say that because there are some conkys there that combine three scripts Daily & Hourly & Moon. The Wun...

Re: Conky Showoff thread

http://i.imgur.com/ZFRG33G.png Look, i shaved off all the frills and brought down the memory usage from 0.54% to 0.44% just so that i could use conky as an efficient hw and system monitor but it's still hogging 16MB which is exorbitant. So can you tell me what's going on with my conky or not, else ...
