Re: Resize a batch of photos without Photoshop

For what it is worth:
From:http://forum.ubuntu-nl.org/index.php?topic=80742.300, page 13, #324. Try Google translate!!

Code: Select all

mogrify -resize 2048 -sharpen 5 *.JPG
WARNING: The bold translates roughly as:
Mogrify overwrites your original images, so first copy them to another folder.

Re: How should I do this?

sdX is the general notation for a HDD in Linux. X can be a, b, c,...
Assuming your computer has only one HDD, type sda not sdX.
However, don't forget the first instruction: Boot into Mint

No cure to your systems symptoms; sorry.

Re: How to remove Bad Sectors from HD

Simply stated: You can't.
Even worse: Your HDD is stating to you that its decease is immiment.
Smartcontrol

Code: Select all

sudo smartctl -a /dev/sda
should give you the answer how bad it is.
Back up your data now(!) i.e. even before you run smartcontrol.

My advise:
Don't discuss SMART-data.
Immediately back-up all your data on that disk (You should have done that even before starting this post!) and buy yourself a new HD.

If still no result: boot the Linux on the HDD and try: sudo os-prober Your password will be asked for and has to be typed-in blind; you don't even see stars. If all OS-ses are r...
