Re: Sound tinny & hard to hear, now gone; & remove prev. ver

It almost was like there was a delay on one. That would give you phase cancellation at various frequencies which could definitely sound odd. What caused the delay effect however is another question. This guy is on the same computer as you and had suggestions about possible soundproblems . If you se...

Re: Audio vibration in Linux Mint

Sorry for the delay. Try this fix, it could work for your problem Open /etc/pulse/default.pa in a text editor and change the line that goes load-module module-udev-detect to load-module module-udev-detect tsched=0 Save the file and log out/in or stop pulseaudio with pulseaudio -k Fix taken from here...

Re: Sound tinny & hard to hear, now gone; & remove prev. ver

Today when I tried the vocals sounded very tinny and far away (hard to hear). The guitars and bass were loud. The sound quality overall (for everything) was very poor; It could be some sort of interaction between the channels. If you mute the channels one at a time (in a mixer like gnome-alsamixer)...

Re: Unetbootin crashes on Linux Mint 16

extlinux not found. This is required for EXT2-formatted USB drive install mode. install the "syslinux"package or your distribution's equivalent. It's not really a crash but it closes with a message. I read that thiswould be "extlinux" that got split into a different package in newer Ubuntu versions...

Re: SOLVED USB piano driver compile can't find alsa/asoundli

Hello! Did you install the packages Liszt recommended in the first post? The driver requires libasound2 and libusb . I had both installed but you also need libasound2-dev and libusb-dev (the development files) installed for this to work. sudo apt-get install libusb libasound2 libasound2-dev libusb-d...

Re: Why does some software not appear in the main menu?

As WharfRat says. It's an applet for the terminal. I don't know how this works in Cinnamon but it will show itself with the Incicator Plugin under gnome/mate.

For the man-page you use the command:

Code: Select all

man nm-applet

Re: Why does some software not appear in the main menu?

(1) why it does not appear in the menu, and Most likely it's a program that you are supposed to run from the command line. (2) how I can go about launching it? Thanks very much. Open up a terminal emulator and type the name of the software to launch it. For instructions most often the man command w...

Re: blue tinted monitor

I don't see the screenshot (the link is to a file on your computer. You need to upload it to a server like photobucket)
The monitor wire could be loose. Turn the computer off and make sure the connection is good.

Petra is the name of the linuxmint release but it's based on saucy, from Ubuntu. You need to change every instance of "petra" to "saucy" in your sources file.

Re: Cinnamon Screensaver AKA LockScreen

The string is located in a file called (gnome-wall-clock.c) towards the bottom of the file. For the life of me I cant find it on my computer using (find) in terminal... Now you're in the source code and it takes a bit to get used to. The files that ends with .c are not going to transfer directly to...

Re: Stratagem - A honeypot distro (the first Mint based?)

I've wanted to try a honeypot for some time now. (downloading) I searched the forum for 'honeypot' and there wasn't much written about it. Perhaps you can link to some good tutorial on the subject. I think there are a lot of us ignoramuses who just need that little extra push. It's likely to attract...
