Re: Poll: Desktop environments

With regard to the last two posts I really thought that Mints partnership with Blue Systems http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=1913 would lead to a more timely KDE release.

How very wrong I was.

Re: bbc iplayer desktop in Linux Mint 11

I use Get-Iplayer found here http://linuxcentre.net/getiplayer

While it is command line it is very easy to use (I just keep a text file of most useful commands on hand to copy and paste as required).

Re: Mint KDE 13 Release ?

I'm still on Mint 10 KDE and absolutely love it. I've been searching for something better for a long long time and just cannot find anything. Tried OpenSuse, LMDE with KDE, PCLinuxOS and even Mint 12 KDE (but the upgrade was not a big enough step to bother with IMHO) but nothing seems to work as wel...

Re: chakra 2012-2

Thanks ZeroZero, I will give it a try as KDE for me is the best DE out there (though I am currently giving Cinnamon a try on Mint 13 on a live USB). I'm not sure why I've not tried this OS before (looking back, aside from Opensuse and once Fedora I've stuck with Debian based OS's, so I guess it's an...

Re: chakra 2012-2

Are you still using this Podagee?

I'm thinking about giving it a try. Looks good as all the software and KDE packages are very current.

Re: Mint 12 KDE

Well Cinnamon gets another release and blog post despite KDE being Clem's "priority".

Meanwhile the only KDE iso has been rejected http://community.linuxmint.com/iso/view/100

To me something that is a priority is the thing that you do first and spend most of your time on.

Re: Mint 12 KDE

@ cwwgateway: You wrote Clem has problems with the KDE release. Well, I will get a whole lot of comment about this, but I feel it is his own fault. He just had to embrace Gnome 3 even though he knew from the beginning it was not good. You can have my comment DeMus... I think you're absolutely spot ...

Not that I wish to rain on anyones parade but Katya KDE got to 100% tested and was still binned.

Re: Mint 12 KDE

I do not understand you, people. I am also longtime KDE fan. But it seems to me that some peole do not have anything to do except waiting for LM 12 KDE. I have some hardware which did not work under Mandriva 2010 and I was waiting for Mandriva 2011 with hope. In the meantime I was searching and tes...

Re: Mint 12 KDE

Craig, you're beginning to sound like the White House press spokesman. (You can take that any way you wish. :) ) When I look at the repository you sent the link to, I see that most files were date stamped on December 8th, a few on December 12th and the latest files on December 15th. Yet, it is bein...

Re: Mint 12 KDE

Cinnamon wouldn't be less important if you were a gnome fan instead of a kde fan  So, we will have to agree to disagree on that one point  It's really not about what's important to end users and I appreciate that Gnome users want Gnome add-ons and bug fixes ahead of all else. It's what's...

Re: Mint 12 KDE

Hi Craig, I must admit I am getting a little bit defensive about KDE. Your comment about Gnome being most important is wrong though. I understand that Gnome is the main edition and will always make the first release, but Clem has explicitly said that KDE will be his priority (after Mint 12 Gnome). I...

Re: Mint 12 KDE

Craig, I am fully aware of the events that have continually led to the rescheduling of Mint KDE and I don't think it is correct to say people are princess when thay are concerned about the ever changing date of the KDE release. I know full well that the Mint team has limited resources and that they ...
