Re: Mint 12 KDE
The problem with LM-KDE has been its abandonment, the project has been put aside for too long now, that created the feeling on most of us that we are not welcome any longer in here and as result, people have been abandoning the community steadily, even Bo, who was in charge, has left the project de...

Re: Mint 12 KDE
Maybe Joe, but if the lead developer is not working on this then I fail to see how they can be treating it as a priority. Though this may just be a matter of perspective. @Kage, I agree there are lots of us in this boat. On the openSuse post in another thread, I have run it from USB but not installe...

Re: Mint 12 KDE
I am really going to try and not be cynical in this post but I have some worries that KDE has been dropped (in part) for the development of Cinnamon. Looking here https://github.com/linuxmint/Cinnamon it appears that Clem is working flat out on this project. Where this leaves Mint12 KDE is anyones g...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE
Fandangio, tried to download the ISO but connection was extremely slow. I tried Open Suse before but it didn't work well for me. Could you tell us your experience with 12.1? Hope it is a good release and works as expected. Cheers! I will probably do the install over the weekend, and be sure to post...

Re: Poor review on OMG
I was just reading the same article and whilst I do understand some of his arguments I agree that there seems to be a fair amount of bias toward Ubuntu. What I still don't get with Mint 12 though is the desire to take a DE (Shell) and make it look and react like a "traditional" desktop. If...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE
I have another machine for that with Ubuntu. I have Unity and Gnome Shell and have recently been booting into Gnome a fair bit. It's a machine I only use for limited tasks such as web browsing and video playback. For that they are equally proficient (though I prefer Gnome). Maybe that is their sole ...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE
For me KDE is the perfect DE. It does everything Gnome 2.x did and more. It allows for a traditional workflow but with many features that make it perfect for getting work done. For me it is fast too (though admittedly I have a mid spec machine - well, low mid spec I guess). It's amazing that there i...

Re: Article Linux Mint the New Ubuntu
I didn't realise there was such a disparity in HW requirement.
If that's the case then there is a place for mate.
edit: now that 3D acceleration is not required.

Re: Article Linux Mint the New Ubuntu
I think Gnome 3 will become a success. As this is supported by an ever increasing number of Distro's there is a large pool of talent working to make this better for all. Unity on the other hand is only being developed by Canoical so will not advance at such a pace. This unilateral approach is hurtin...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE
Thistleweb posted similar in another thread and I agree about reducing the scope of Mint to provide one or two awesome platforms. I feel the same about Mint12 and Gnome v's Mate. I feel the Mint team should be the first to make Gnome 3 (shell) truly awesome. Mate seems like a stop gap to me. edit: M...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE
If you who are so desirous for a KDE Mint would cough up the loot, he could hire a dev, perhaps a maturing University student who also codes and loves Linux. You make the assumption that people commenting on this KDE thread to not contribute to Mint. Personally I have sponsored Mint for a long time...

Sorry, maybe I should have been more explicit.
Run Gparted from a live CD such as Mint as proxima_centauri says. Though it need not be Mint, there are lots on live OS's that include partitioning software...

Re: Resizing my sda1
You would need to run GParted from a Live CD.
It's then as simple as adjusting a slider till the partition is the correct size
