Re: How do I install nvidia driver

The same driver you downloaded is available in the repositories. Open Package Manager and enter nvidia-96 in the quick search box. Nvidia driver 96.43.19 will come up. It will be much easier to install from Synaptic. Yes I found it there, however when I try to install it I get a message that I have...

Re: LMDE won't boot after update

Did you install the headers, as zerozero suggested? You really do need to install them manually. sudo apt-get install linux-headers-2.6.39-2-686-pae I had a recurrence of this problem after another update and dist-upgrade. I installed the headers manually as suggested but the system still won't boo...

Re: LMDE won't boot after update SOLVED

After my last post I decided to try to run sudo apt-get update again from the command line. I booted in the recovery mode -got a root prompt by hitting CTL-D and ran the update-- got a multitude of error messages, one of which suggested to run apt-get -f install In short, I did this and it solved my...

Re: LMDE won't boot after update

I had this problem the first time I install LMDE because I haven't update correctly I had done a re-installation and make my update in a terminal like that: sudo update && sudo dist-upgrade I just now completed a re-installation and did the update and dist-upgrade in the terminal. After the new ins...

Re: LMDE won't boot after update

A first suggestion might be to boot into Isadora, your main OS, and in terminal run, if you have not already done so: sudo update-grub It could be that your updates included a new kernel and you need to configure Grub to work with it. This seemed like a real good idea so I tried it and grub seemed ...

LMDE won't boot after update [SOLVED]

I checked the "breakage" posts for something similar to this but since i was unable to locate anything i decided to post this as a new topic. I am running LMDE 32 bit on a separate partition hoping to make it my "main" OS -- Currently my main OS is Isadora. I ran update and dist-upgrade from the ter...

Re: [SOLVED] Could not refresh the list of packages

Followed the instructions above and got this result at the end of the "sudo apt-get update". What is the significance of this and should I be concerned? <W: GPG error: http://archive.ubuntu.com lucid Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_P...

no line-in sound (isadora)

my "line-in"sound disappeared all of a sudden. All other sounds seem to be working ok --you tube, cds etc. This is happening on my Isadora partition. I have ubuntu lucid on another partition on the same machine with identical sound settings and am not having this problem. This has been working ok up...

Re: nVidia in Lucid Lynx vs Isadora?

The reason I selected Isadora was because it's based on Lucid Lynx (the test OS). Why would it work in one and not the other? Some type of kernel difference. Does anyone know what the difference is? I have had almost exactly the same experience. I say almost because at one point everything was ok f...

pkill gnome-panel should get all back working. I have had this problem since ubuntu 9.10 and all the respective mint version. Don't know if it's the nvidia driver or not. Re: Lost desktop icons and panel (driver problem?)

After this post I rebooted to the recovery mode and ran dpkg (to fix broken packages). After a reboot the icons and the bottom panel "popped" back up and all seemed to be ok. However after another reboot --guess what??_ back to the same problem --no icons and no panel. Help, please, if you are able....
