Re: I really love linux but..

I agree with wangsuda. While whine/crossover or virtualization "might" work, it's usually not worth it. Either find games that run native on Linux, or dual boot with windows. The dual boot is easy and you get the best of both worlds. Trying desperately to run all your games on Linux is futile, and ...

I am interested on the theme, barko could you teach how to install different versions of wine under PlayOnLinux and then use it to install more windows software (those not normally supported by PlayOnLinux)? Regards, Luís Fernando de Araújo It's simple: 1. run playonlinux 2. tools -> manage wine ve...

Re: Totally Removing Programs

Does the 'Purge' in Terminal or 'Completely Remove' in Synaptic remove a program and all its associated files & folders? Windows programs are notorious for leaving behind all kinds of clutter, just wondering if this happens in Linux. maybe this will do the job: apt-get remove --purge packname apt-g...

Re: Considering of switching to LMDE

You can do this: install debian squeeze and mint it :) that means add mint repositories and use tools from it. I did that and I'm happy with my distro :) So i'm mint-debian user still but i do not break my system anymore with testing repositories. But, if you want some adventures with your computer,...

Nah don't stand, sit back and chill :) Now I have a real problem, the sound recorder don't work, I just get this error but synaptic don't recognize any of the utils mentioned :( Had the same error. Try installing gstreamer0.10-gconf (0.10.28-3). It worked for me. Thanks for that info. It worked for...

Simple:

sudo nano /etc/passwd

find your name and change gid and uid numbers from like 1000:1000 to 0:0

Example: barko:x:0:0:barko:/home/barko:/bin/bash
