Re: Mint 12 KDE

... Let's face it: too much time and effort have been wasted on Lisa only because Clem had to release a Gnome release. When he just stopped before he began we would now have a perfect KDE release, a perfect XFCE release and a perfect LXDE release, maybe even an LMDE KDE version as well. Wouldn't th...

Re: Mint 12 KDE

Craig, you're beginning to sound like the White House press spokesman. (You can take that any way you wish. :) ) When I look at the repository you sent the link to, I see that most files were date stamped on December 8th, a few on December 12th and the latest files on December 15th. Yet, it is being...

Re: Mint 12 KDE

I think you are missing something though, ferri. There are two ideas that I grew up with. First, a man's word is a commitment to be honored. In December, with Linux Mint 12 released and LMDE in good shape I will hopefully have the time to focus on KDE. If Boo isn't back by then, I'll address the iss...

Re: Mint 12 KDE

...I hope also LM reconsider its attitude and delivers a shiny KDE the way it deserves with the "fonts tweaked" so newbies like you don't need to spend time correcting it, but I doubt that would ever happen soon and if it does, I will doubt it was done with much love either. Take care and Have a Ha...

Yes, it does look a lot like a KDE desktop. Clean and fresh.

Re: Mint KDE vs. GNOME KDE with install kde-full

FWIW, since I wrote earlier, I've installed openSUSE KDE. The problem I had with the installation over the top of LM12 was all the Gnome applications in KDE that were cluttering things up. In an effort to clean things up, I cleaned too much and the system wouldn't reboot. The openSUSE KDE is a great...

If you run "sudo apt-get upgrade", will that not try to upgrade the kernel if there's a newer version?

Re: What song are you listening to at the moment?

Revelation Song, sung by a young woman at my church. The neat thing about listening to her sing, is she doesn't have an ego. She isn't caught up with how wonderful she can make this song seem. I hear it, and tears come to my eyes. Tears of joy. Here is a YouTube video by Phillips, Craig and Dean. It...

Re: Mint 12 KDE

FWIW, I deleted LM12 with KDE Full on it and installed openSUSE yesterday. :) So far, no regrets. I had successfully installed KDE Full over the LM12 installation. However, I got irritated by the Gnome apps being the default and cluttering up the menu. So I decided to try uninstalling some of them. ...

Aww, shucks... I got my hopes up that someone had a clue of how to fix this. :)

Sorry about putting it in the wrong area. I'm a Newbie, so I figured the Newbie section was appropriate.

How to Reset Sound?

I'm sure this is simple, but I'm not seeing how to do it. I'm using LM10 KDE. I opened KMix and it offered an option to turn off monitoring of several audio channels. My assumption was these were not valid audio channels and that the program knew what it was doing. My assumption was wrong, apparentl...

How to Control Startup Programs?

I'm not sure why this is happening, but when I boot into the KDE desktop, Nautilus starts up. How can I stop this from happening? I installed LM12, then installed KDE-Full over it. All has worked well, except for this. It acts like it is trying to restore the open windows, but they aren't open when ...

Re: the new 11.12 ati driver

There's no official announcement for this release, but it also adds hardware acceleration (OpenGL) support for the Google Chrome web browser and it doesn't fixes the existing GNOME Shell issues . That quote is from the Softpedia website the OP referenced. Their grammar isn't good, but the message i...

I'm trying to understand something, and perhaps you can help. :) First, are all these people you called off in your post paid for doing this? Or are they volunteers with paying jobs elsewhere, and perhaps a family? (Are you a paying contributor to the forum? I'm not, but then I'm not demanding anyth...
