The Intel 5300 card is the same as I have in my Lenovo laptop and as I mentioned in the other thread you posted in, the only way I could get to the net was by installing wicd and uninstalling Network Manager.
sudo apt-get install wicd
sudo apt-get remove network-manager

Re: Wifi connected - no internet - works on other router
If you are using Network Manager which comes as default with Mint 12 try wicd instead. It was the only way I could get on the net despite Network Manager saying it was connected.

Re: firefox cannot find any server
Don't want to loose all my favourite sites so move to other browser not on. Re-installing firefox doesn't work - package manager isn't able to use internet connection so can't get to package db. Looks like none of the internet packages are connecting to their servers even though the connection is u...

Re: use bluetooth & connect Mint-12 laptop to 'droid 2.3.3 p
My X200 runs both Win7 and Mint as a dual boot. I simply don't trust Mint 12 to the point of being able to do without Windows on this machine although I much prefer the lightness and security of Mint on a travelling laptop. It really is a shame as Mint has been my distribution of choice for years on...

Re: Linux mint 12 and 2200bg
can't connect to my network How are you trying to connect? If you click the network tray icon, do you get a list ofwifi networks? If you click another one, preferably one that is unsecured, does it connect/ask for a password? What happens when you do the same for your own network? Yes, i get the li...

Re: use bluetooth & connect Mint-12 laptop to 'droid 2.3.3 p
I'm trying to do almost exactly the same thing with very similar equipment. In my case a Lenovo X200 with Mint 12 and a HTC Desire running a custom rom...2.35. This is around the fifth or sixth install of Mint 12 on this laptop due to various problems with both wireless and bluetooth. Interestingly ...

Re: Bluetooth Headset: Mic not working
I spoke too soon obviously as after installing some new Cinnamon applets my bluetooth is screwed! Lost all devices that were paired before and now it can't seem to see any bluetooth devices at all.

Re: Bluetooth Headset: Mic not working
I had to upgrade the kernel to the latest version to get my Plantronics bluetooth headset to work. Had to do this in both Mint 11x32 and 12x64. It's working great now and connects seamlessly to Skype etc. This seems to be the easiest way to upgrade the kernel...maybe not the correct way but the easi...

Re: Wireless card suggestions?
This is definitely a problem with Network Manager not recognizing commands from certain applications. At least that is the way I see it. Reinstalling WICD and removing Network Manager results in immediate connection to the net with absolutely no problems. I had been using Windows drivers before with...

Re: Wireless card suggestions?
I had already tried that before but had another go at reinstalling Network Manager again. This time after reinstalling and after removing WICD I had no applet showing but had a wireless connection that seemed to work fine. Rebooting the laptop brought the applet back but as before no web pages will ...

Wireless card suggestions?
My Lenovo X200 runs an Intel Wifi Link 5300 AGN card but it does not work using Network Manager. I have had to install WICD to get the card working but it does not work in N mode and WICD isn't exactly reliable. I had Mint 11 installed originally and the card seemed to work ok then but since upgradi...

Re: Login problems
More problems with the desktop. Sometimes when i enter a character into the search box in Mint menu the character does not appear, in addition the Menu list starting with all applications seems to concertina upwards, that is the font seems to get smaller and the spacing between items gets a lot smal...

Login problems
Cinnamon or Mint12 itself has now decided to make me login twice before letting me onto the desktop. That is at my first attempt to enter my password and tap the enter key it seems to be about to change to the desktop and then goes back to the login screen where I have to do it again. It only ever f...

Re: Oh Mint12...why don't you love me?
I am actually running Cinnamon as my desktop manager, at least i am trying to. It or Mint12 itself has now decided that I need to log in twice before it will allow me to get to the desktop. No apparent reason as far as I can see. I have also lost the ability to copy and paste every so often. The onl...

Oh Mint12...why don't you love me?
I really...REALLY...want to love Mint12 as I have loved and fought with every version of Mint since those heady days of Cassandra and an IBM A22M. It's been a love affair that has lasted through two long term relationships complete with members of the opposite sex. You know...those annoying human be...

Re: Needs a better way to install themes please!
I realise that Cinnamon is only in early development and believe it or not I applaud the devs for giving us an alternative to the absolute cock up called Gnome 3. And I even managed to find a one click (well nearly!) method to installing quite a few of the Cinnamon themes available. http://www.my-gu...

Needs a better way to install themes please!
Right, I have been fighting with Mint12 on this laptop (X200) for the last two days trying to get the wireless that worked fine with 11 to play nice with 12. Finally did it using Windows Wireless Drivers and WICD. Never thought I would have to use something as old as WICD again. Two steps forward an...

Has anybody got an answer to this as I am facing the same problem? Thinkpad x200 with an Intel Corp Ultimate N WiFi Link 5300 and no wireless on Mint 12. Worked fine with 11 although there were other problems so I went up to 12.

Re: Screen shows only background after login
Not exactly the same but very like it. I have just installed Mint 12 64bit in a VM with Cinnamon. Sometimes after a reboot there is only the background and nothing else, sometimes the panel is there but clicking on it does nothing, funny thing is if I right click on the background I get the usual co...
