No restore option in Clonezilla

After the failure of Mint 12 to install on my IBM T42 I decided to do a little distro hopping! 12 is still on my Toshiba and works fine but I decided to try out other variants of Linux on the T42 starting with xubuntu because of the low power consumption of the XFCE desktop. I got it tweaked just th...

Re: Bank does not support Firefox 8

As I said before the bank site has a page which does a check on which OS, browser etc you are using and puts a check against each component which passes their tests and a red x against those that don't. Everything passes on all three laptops except for Firefox 8 which comes up with a message -beta s...

Re: Screaming Laptop.

Would it by any chance be overheating? It might be worthwhile taking it apart if you can and making sure the fan outlet is not blocked by dust. I have fixed a few laptops with overheating issues and trying to see the blockage through the exhaust outlet is impossible. The dust builds up between the f...

Re: Bank does not support Firefox 8

Thanks for the replies and I will definitely have a look at those add ons for changing the user string. It's something that hadn't occurred to me to do even though it is something I regularly do on my Android phone! The bank have a page which runs a check on the computer that is being used to access...

Re: Bank does not support Firefox 8

The initial login screen works fine but then sometimes the second login screen (double login using a number taken from a sequence supplied by the bank) does not allow any input. By that I mean I cannot enter any text into the text boxes so can't go any farther. If on occasion it does work and I can ...

Bank does not support Firefox 8 Solved

I have installed Mint 10 on both my parents laptops and xubuntu on the one I'm typing this on. This had Mint 11 on it previous to this. On all three laptops my bank website does not work properly, caused I think by problems with the Java implementation on the site. Unfortunately the bank will not co...

Re: Stuck on one IP address

Thanks for that, I will take a note of those commands for when (if) this happens again! Hopefully it won't though! As for shutting down the router? Yes that would have been the easiest thing to do and it probably would have given a new address on startup but if I wanted easy I would have left ...

Re: Stuck on one IP address

That is what I have done for my servers, printer and voip phone plus the pc's that stay in the house. Unfortunately my T42 goes everywhere with me and I depend on it to connect to wireless networks wherever I am so giving it a static IP would cause more trouble than it is worth. I would really rathe...

Re: Stuck on one IP address

I did just that several times, the only setting that can be deleted as far as I can see are network names. I deleted every name I could see and then deleted the name of my own network several times but each time I reconnected to my network it was still using the same IP address- 192.168.0.10. The on...

Stuck on one IP address

Bit of a weird one this. I was using my IBM T42 with Mint 10.10 at a friends house last night and instead of doing a shutdown I closed the lid and put it to sleep. At home today I opened the lid to find that though I was connected to my router with no problem I could not connect to the net. After a ...

Re: Display Problems With Felicia On Amilo Pro V2030 (VN800)

Absolutely brilliant! After many fruitless hours of searching and reconfiguring xorg to no avail I found this thread and can happily report that Linux Mint 10.10 is now running on an Amilo Pro V2055 at 1280x800. I assume that Ubuntu which had the same problem with resolution will also work correctly...
