Re: Hello from Space Coast Florida -- Saying goodbye to SuSE

Welcome, Bearzlos! I've been keeping track of openSUSE myself for over a decade, mainly because I wanted to stay in touch with the RPM based branch of the distro's. I used to like it a lot, and have always regarded it as a fine alternative for the *buntu's and their derivatives. But unfortunately I,...

Such scripts could even be hidden on a website you visit, for instance. I have been in that conversation with you before. No, they could not: you have an unrealistic idea of what say Javascript in the browser can do and/or access: hardly anything. It is an example of what I am talking about wrt. mi...

Re: Feedback on Mint 19 & development

Yeah, I think they're on a minimal effort approach as far as the main distro goes these days. Maybe this'll change soon: with LMDE 3 and Mint 19 behind us, we’re ready to get started on some of the big projects. Source: https://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=3634 But given the relatively small size of the M...

very annoying zero-knowledge groupthink, with not a single concern substantiated, let alone "clear(ly) technical(ly)". Well then, why not answer this clear practical and technical concern that I've voiced earlier in this thread: "In the screenshot of the OP's thread starter, I see also synaptic and...

Re: way to reduce passwords

@rene: your messages in this thread seem rather unlike you. I appreciate you as a knowledgeable and helpful forum member (your track record is impressive), but I must say that it puzzles me why you don't address several clear practical technical concerns that have been raised here. Instead you come ...

HP is fine; good build quality. Still the safest choice for Linux nowadays, due to excellent Linux support. :)

Re: way to reduce passwords

I see. A bit anticlimactic surely, but I am afraid I will have to consider my point having been made then: your common sense is off. You posted in direct response or at least succession to my .pkla one; just to wrap this up: that one, as poster's own tweak, specifically allows root and locally logg...

Re: Vastloper.

Vreemd....

Re: Suddenly very slow data rate between router and PC [SOLVED]

Hello, just to conclude this thread: in the setup of the router the mac filter was activated, preventing additional WLAN devices to be admitted... Sorry for taking your attention for this post. Next time I will take better care. Better disable that useless MAC filter entirely: https://sites....

Re: [18.3] Installing latest version of Mesa?

Nah, Mint 19 is forcing me to install microcode. I don't want microcode and never needed it. If you don't want it, you can remove and/or blacklist it... Removing it will "only" take two kernel meta packages with it, which means that afterwards, you'll have to take care of your kernel updates by hand.

Is there a working darling for Linux Mint 19, and if there is, I would love some help! The darling shell isn't in the official repos so the answer is no. You're probably asking for help in the wrong place anyway. Try the github page: https://github.com/darlinghq/darling/issues Blackadder had some i...

Re: [18.3] Installing latest version of Mesa?

Bc the game I'm playing has poor performance since the last update and I was hoping updating mesa could improve it a little. Good enough reason. Well, you might consider installing Mint 19, which has a newer mesa version.... A clean installation of 19 is best. I recommend the lightweight Xfce editi...

When I open Synaptic and type 'mesa', it appears my version is 8.3.1. However, I found on the internet the latest version is 18.1.7. So, how can I install it on Mint 18.3, avoiding manual compilation, if possible?
Why do you think you need that newer mesa version?
