Re: Mint 17RC - unable to add ppa

I get that bug, too. I was planning to report it to the announcement thread when it started up on the blog. I just saw a more general discussion going on in the monthly thread, if you're interested. The issue might come up there, too.

Re: So long Cinnamon! Hello ... Gnome Shell? Unity?

You're very welcome, Exploder :D So the issue with the extensions settings not sticking is a known bug, I learned on Ask Ubuntu . To get around it, you log out and log into a different session, such as Gnome Classic. Reboot. Log back into Gnome Shell again, and the settings will have worked. In case...

Re: So long Cinnamon! Hello ... Gnome Shell? Unity?

Synaptic has been working normally. I would try uninstalling and reinstalling from Ubuntu software center. I did that once a couple of years ago and it worked for me. No, Weather does not appear in the applications menu at all and doesn't appear on a search. It's on the panel, but the location funct...

Re: Future of Firefox Australis and LinuxMint

I disagree that the Ubuntu version of Firefox is broken. I use FF29 on Ubuntu 14.04 and three other Ubuntu-based systems. I haven't had any crashes at all, not a single one. I don't doubt others are having crashes; however, it could be a specific computer-related conflict going on. I hope it gets st...

Re: Firefox 29...just me?

Oy. This is starting to remind me of when Unity was born or KDE 4 or Gnome 3. :P People who like Australis will keep using Firefox; those who don't will use something else; some portion of the second group will return to Firefox, once they realize the world as we know it hasn't ended forever and alw...

Re: Future of Firefox Australis and LinuxMint

My NoSquint works in FF29. I couldn't use it, if not.
Night Wing wrote: One last item, my favorite add-on is NoSquint. It works in linux Firefox 24.5.0 ESR, but I don't think it works in linux Firefox (Australis) 29 because NoSquint's maximum version number is still at 27.

Re: Firefox 29...just me?

2x Intel Celeron CPU G540 @ 2.5 GHz 8 GB RAM Mesa DRI Intel Sandybridge I'm using Firefox 29 on Lubuntu 14.04 and Ubuntu 14.04; also 12.04-based Elementary Luna. No problems at all. No crashes or freezes. It's fast and smooth, performance-wise. I'm thrilled it resolved scrolling hitches I had been s...

Yes, it's a lovely distro. I've used Deepin 2013 and recently spent a couple of weeks with the Deepin 2014 Alpha. They do a very nice job of it. I plan to reinstall 2014 when it's ready for final.
