Re: CUPS PDF printer - no output

I have reinstalled cups and cups pdf printer but cannot get output? Any ideas? I'd been having this problem for a while (after it working just fine for several months) I Googled the subject and found an old 2008 thread with no specific answer but at Administration/Printers/Print to PDF/Properties I...

Re: Netgear WNDR3400 router usb hard drive support

Please correct me if I'm wrong . . but don't you log into the router to set up the attached usb drive ? the drive will have an ip address given to it from the router, and then easy to locate from your linux machine. Yes, and I've logged into the router from Win7 and Linux Mint. The "advanced settin...

Re: WTLibrary start menu item fail

Same problem here. You can right click WT Library & add it to a panel instead if that helps. Or personally I use Avant window navigator, drag & drop the icon there, and keep the launcher hidden. Why it won't launch from the menu I have no idea. Thanks for the suggestion. I had put it on a panel pre...

WTLibrary start menu item fail

System is Linux Mint 11, Gnome, WINE 1.3.24. I've had same problem through several updates of WINE. Install program creates a working launcher/icon on desktop but the same item in Menu/WINE/Watchtower Library gives a "file not found" error. After copying the working command line from the desktop ico...

Re: What music player/manager for large collection ?

Have you looked at songbird ? http://dexviajiboy2.blogspot.com/2011/05/dexguide-how-to-install-songbird-193-in.html This is the "open source" music player that abandoned Linux because they have a small staff and are concentrating on Windows and Mac. Fine, but there won't be any fixes, upgrades, etc...

Software Manager and Package Manager broken after LM11

I've just done the upgrade from LM10 to LM11 and have had a couple of problems/weirdnesses. On first couple of reboots I still had old splashscreen and GRUB listed Linux Mint 10. And I couldn't connect wirelessly to the Internet for updates anyway. So I booted into my alternate Linux, Karmic Koala a...

To Upgrade or Not to Upgrade

I have Mint11 all burned onto a DVD and started the upgrade/install process very carefully. Chose the "other" install option which involves showing the existing partition table. Here's a copy of that as of a few minutes ago. http://i1198.removed/albums/aa442/krustybaguette/techsupport/053011partitio...

Re: KeePass2 & Mono

I know KeePass works out of the box on Mint 11 but not on LMDE I got it working but this may be a bit overkill Then I ran, sudo apt-get install mono-complete This installs all development and runtime libraries afaik. Having all those packages may be unnecessary for most people but it got it working...

Re: Is there a recommended way to make a live USB of mint?

Hi, I used a program called Linux Live USB Creator to make a bootable USB of Froyo (Android). It's a Win exe file so I made the bootable USB in Windows. I have since installed the program in Mint 10 using WINE and it seems to work, though I've yet to make another one. A couple of caveats are in orde...

Re: KeePass2 & Mono

Hello! I have been trying to get KeePass2 working with mono. I have installed all of the mono packages as well as xdotool and when I use mono to run the exe, all I get is a button on the taskbar that I can't do anything with. I have to go into system monitor to close mono to stop the program or can...

I have a similar problem with my T-Mobile G2. Have installed all the files mentioned earlier in this thread. Both devices 'see each other' and I can send and receive multiple files but cannot "pair" the devices, or browse the phone from my laptop. With the program Bluetooth File Transfer installed o...

Re: Win7 Mint10 Win98 grub MBR

For one thing. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/17787/clean-up-the-new-ubuntu-grub2-boot-menu/ For another, read through some of those links I posted. One/some of them are about fixing the win 7 mbr. If it's messed up you have to fix it. Reinstalling grub won't magically repair your win 7 boatloader ...

Partitioning for triple boot Win7 WIN98SE LM10

I seem to have exhausted all possibilities for fixing my Win7 LM10 dual boot and have been unable to get Win98SE added in part because my previous partitioning setup left me with 4 Primary partitions with nowhere to put WIn98. See other thread: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=72089&...

Re: Win7 Mint10 Win98 grub MBR

Restoring Grub after wiping out the MBR with Windows installation is piece of cake: 1. Download Supergrug disk iso : http://developer.berlios.de/project/showfiles.php?group_id=10921 I tried this. I burned the .iso onto a CD and booted. The screen says "Welcome to GRUB" or some such and then there's...

Re: Win7 Mint10 Win98 grub MBR

I suspect that part of your Win98 problem may be WIn 98 rather than your laptop. USB support in Win 98 was notoriuosly sketchy and prone to fail without warning. If you have the option to mount an internal CD drive, here's what I would do: Last night I did a reinstall of Windows and of course now m...

Re: Win7 Mint10 Win98 grub MBR

My response will not be highly technical as I am far to be knowledgeable in the field, but just in case it may help. If you want Grub to update Grub entries you can open terninal and type: sudo update-grub Good luck :) This will be helpful once I get all OS's up and running. I have a XP/Mint10 /Win...
