Re: What are the steps to install to a partition already cre
No offense, but took me 20mins on google, a couple of examples and badaboom had LM10 installed shortly there after w XP. One of probably 30 dual/tri/quad boots done since. LM's installer isn't rocket science ... Jmo, think it's almost self explanatory. Certainly for someone who's done it a few times...

Re: Grub installed on wrong partition. HELP!
The only problem is that the Grub install appears to be pointing at the wrong partition. Ya seem to be missing the jest of the OP's problem here. Willing to bet at this pt, bootin Linux is his absolute last concern, lol. That can always be done later and no doubt easily. His issue is that he borked...

Re: mint seems to have taken over - can not enter PC BIOS
Lil bit confused ... You want into your PC's bios though ? Diff hardware makers have diff ways to do it. Often one of the F1-12 keys. Think some do the Esc key too. On mine to reach bio's I start tapping the F2 key when booting up( right after turning the comp on). Would google whatever model PC you...

Re: Can you access to Distrowatch.com?
Nope ... opened right up for me. Not really sure what that could be, if happening on several OS's. Some setting with your PC(s?) or net connection or summin. Dunno ... odd. Maybe this will help. It's from a few months ago. But copied the guys email at the bottom of the page on distrowatch. His email...

Re: Can I remove Gnome & Mate and just use Xfce?
^Agrees with Roken again. What he said + some of my patent pending babblings. Might be better to go with a Mint release specifically intended for one of the lighter DE's, instead of having to try to remove this, that, the other 12 things AND the kitchen sink. Not sure about it, haven't read the rele...

Re: Sadly, I've moved away from Mint
Had an afterthought ... about the point made about trying to please everyone. Think there's definitely something to that. Distro's that want to cater to as wide an audience as possible do seem to end up having to put out software for every tom, dick and harriette in the world. Some of the distro's I...

Good this will startcha off upon the journey. Many such threads and infinite number of other conky resources online. http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=30209 I ended up calling it enough after about a wk of intense messing around with conky. End result isn't exactly stellar, but at lea...

Re: Very small Linux for FTP server only
Could check out Slitaz. Though, have to admit to only skimming the OP. Upon reflection, not sure if slitaz fits the nothing unnecessary, no gui, RAM use ( it's not bad resourcewise imo though) etc. criteria of the post. Ahhh ... oh well, might still be worth a look, if for nothing else think that gn...

I luv threads like this ... It's like a soap opera, only with geeky people in it. :D Fare thee well, *sniffle, *sniffle, fare thee well. We shall always have Paris ... mwah*. Re: I abhor Gnome3. Help !
You still have freedom and choices. You can choose NOT to use something you don't like. Dunno about this gnome3 controversy, never tried 3 quit using gnome 2 a fair while ago. All the fuss had me curious enough to check it out on youtube. Looks like with anything, pro's and con's involved. Did look ...
