Re: Automount partitions at start

You may need to make a few adjustments /dev/sdb1 /home/markate/2nd Internal HD ntfs defaults,umask=007,gid=46 0 0 The second path is to where you want the partition mounted. It has toi exist, and I would start out trying to fix it by taking the spaces out and replacing them with a dash. So change th...

Re: Yet Another 64-bit & 32-bit Discussion

I have been running 64bit Linux for a long time, since 64bit Ubunru Dapper Drake. In fact its one of the reasons I switched to Linux in the first place. After paying extra for a AMD 64bit chip for a new computer apon getting it home I found it came with 32bit windows. The issues of today are basical...

Re: How do I change the mouse theme of my login screen in KD

I trust Microsoft about as far as I could comfortably spit a dead rat Why would you want to put a dead rat in your mouth anyway? How far can you spit one with comfort? With no concern for comfort? You are reading to far into it, the idea is I wouldn't, so it isn't far at all. Its also a play on a q...

Re: Gnome panel applets and autohide

Are you using a dock, or the panel? If you are using a dock, have you considered trying awn and then deleting the panels? The awn dock has a intelihide option in preferences that is awesome, anytime a application is full screen the dock hides, but can be seen simply by going to the edge it sits on. ...

Re: Gnome original settings

The differences are all theme elements and panel applets. Like to replace the menu right click on the panel, and choose add to panel, choose main menu or menu bar. The standard gnome menu will be added. You can then right click on the mint menu and choose remove from panel and drag the gnome menu in...

Re: Wine - File not found error

Are there spaces in the path? If so you may have to place " " around the path in the launcher command box. Here is an example.

wine "/path/to my/program.exe"

Re: Can Gnome 3 be installed in Mint 10?

@ Kilz: gnome 2 also has a shell in the repository, but it is a bit buggy. And Gnome 3 without shell is also possible. Gnome 3 is just a new version of Gnome which has shell enabled by default. LOL a "bit" buggy? Thats like saying the Titanic was just a ship. I foresee Gnome 3 to be full of bugs fo...

I wouldnt be so eager to install Gnome 3 at release. In fact I would wait a few weeks. You are more likely to be the one reporting bugs if you dont.

I think the Gnome 3 release is a bit (or a probably a lot) different from that.
Not really. Gnome 3 is Gnome with Gnome shell. You could install the newest Gnome shell into an existing install and have Gnome 3 for the most part.

Re: How do I change the mouse theme of my login screen in KD

I am a gnome user, so I am not sure how you would do it within KDE. But in Linux the mouse themes are stored in /usr/share/icons and the /usr/share/icons/default/index.theme is a symlink to the mouse theme that the computer starts with, which it changes on longin. If you copy the contents of a mouse...

Thanks for the welcome :). I now have a few more days with mint debian under my belt and it ranks up there with some of my favorites (Suse 10, Ubuntu feisty to name a few). Looks like I have a winner in the search for a new distro. :)

Why not download and burn a 64bit live disk as a test. If it boots into the operating system on the disk it will run just fine when installed.

I ran into this issue after installing Mint Debian. I started installing everything zip related, and found that the zip package itself wasnt even installed. After I installed it the issue went away as soon as I deleted the files in my ~/.thumbnails folder.
