Re: Extend NTFS partition on dual boot

Even if you deleted the three linux partitions, you still could not extend the windows partition into that space. The issue is linux is installed to the extended partition space and windows is a primary partition in which only four are allowed. You would have to clear everything past the windows par...

Re: Extend NTFS partition on dual boot

Hello Marchhare https://thumb.ibb.co/dA8CQ8/hello.gif Welcome to Linux Mint and the Linux Mint forum :) Simply put it can't be done. Your windows partition is a primary and the free space is a logical partition. You could extend the Data partition, but that probably wouldn't help you. The only thing...

Re: Can not write data to a partition

koko330,

If you create the mountpoint /media/Misc and use

Code: Select all

UUID=0005EC49000C3D5B			/media/Misc	ntfs-3g	noatime,nls=utf8,windows_names,dmask=022,fmask=111,uid=1000,gid=1000 0  0
in place of your current fstab entry the problem will be solved.

Re: 1TB hard-drive but can only use 128GB?!

You can't just simply move the /home folder out of the file system tree - booting will fail. Since /dev/sda1 is storing something showing 33G used, I thought it best to use half of the disk for home. If you don't need anything on that disk then format /dev/sda1 ext4 and it will be used as the home p...

Re: 1TB hard-drive but can only use 128GB?!

I tried using that code for media/300gb and it didn't seem to error out or anything, but it's still showing very limited space when I try to upload. Is there a way to make 'home' bigger? You can't make home bigger on sdb because there's no room What you can do is shrink /dev/sda1 in half in gparted...

Re: 1TB hard-drive but can only use 128GB?!

You can use it to store some of the files you have in your /home to /de/sda1. sudo mkdir /media/1tb sudo mount -v /dev/sda1 /media/1tb sudo chown $USER:$USER /media/1tb You should be able to move some stuff from your /home to /media/1tb. You can call 1tb something else like storage, files etc. whate...

Re: 1TB hard-drive but can only use 128GB?!

Mint is installed on /dev/sdb2 which has usable space of 117G. /dev/sda1 - your 1TB disk partition - is not utilized as part of the Mint installation. Most of the space is being used by 89G /home. You can use the following to inspect the home folder's use. sudo du -hd1 /home/$USER | sort -hr -k1 For...

Re: 1TB hard-drive but can only use 128GB?!

OK, everything looks fine with that disk's partition, The problem remains with your Mint partition's free space. Run the following in the terminal and paste back the results to determine which folders are chewing-up space: sudo du -hd1 / --exclude={/run,proc,/dev,/media,/mnt,/sys,/tmp,/cdrom,lost*}|...

Re: 1TB hard-drive but can only use 128GB?!

Your results are a little odd to say the least. Mint is installed to /dev/sdb2 and is almost out of space. And /dev/sda1 is mounted to /media/root/Storage, but doesn't show with df :? You would have to install gparted in order to get a visual view of the partitions, but you might not have enough roo...

Since you elected to utilize an LVM installation, swap is a logical partition in the mint--vg volume group along with your root partition.

Re: How to manage swap via gparted?

Since you elected to utilize an LVM installation, swap is a logical partition in the mint--vg volume group along with your root partition.

Therefore, neither can be managed via gparted or any other disk partition utility.
