Or use the debug mount option sudo ntfs-3g -o debug /dev/sd?? /mnt which will provide some additional information when mounting.

Change /dev/sd?? to your device designation.

Also as pbear alluded to make sure it's not mounted somewhere else before attempting to mount it,

It appears from googling that ChromeOS is a variant of Linux so it should be compatible with the EXT family file system,

I've never used one so I can't be absolutely sure though.

However IMHO EXT4 would be the best for reliability and stability.

You need to include the the uid=1000 and gid=1000 mount options :wink:

It might help to know what you intend to use the portable hard drives for - e.g., linux system backups or interchangeability with windows.

If it's the later then it would have to be NTFS.

If the ':' character separates the chat item, cut would probably be easier. Your additional problems can be due to not having any file system space left.
