Re: More crazy stuff from Ubuntu - what will Mint do?

I read it over and it seems reasonable to me. You still need the password for downloading additional software, but updates to the software you have already installed doesn't need a password.

Re: Can't install Google Chrome on Linux Mint 12 RC 64 bits

Its because Ubuntu is lacking dependencies in order to run it. Download and install Chromium from the Software Manager. Then after that, remove Chromium and install Chrome. Then it should work. It did for me.

Re: Linux Mint 12 Release Candidate

Ok coming from Gnome Shell from Ubuntu, I saw this and couldn't resist!!! But one major problem I am having is with the workplaces. Why can't I CRTL+ALT+RIGHT/LEFT/UP/DOWN or anything to switch between workspaces right out of the box!?!? And how do I enable this?

Is LMDE suitable for my tastes?

This is coming from an Ubuntu user. I am very happy with Ubuntu thus far. It has been great, and I have had little problems with it. Though, with saying it, I did not mention that I do have problems, such as Google Chrome locking up on me and forcing me to restart my computer. This happens occasiona...

Re: Questions for Mint Users...

What are some of the differences with packages between Ubuntu and Linux Mint? I know Mint has the Mint Tools and etc, but are there different packages I might find in ubuntu that I won't in Mint, and vice versa?

Questions for Mint Users...

After Natty Narwhal and Mint 11 have been out for a good amount of time, which one would you recommend for a user who wants to get back into Linux. I have some knowledge on Linux, but I'm no where near an experienced Linux power user. I kind of like Unity on Ubuntu, but I miss the customization that...

Gnome user switching to XFCE

Hello, I've been using Linux for about a year now and the only experience I have had is with the Gnome desktop environment. I have been reading up on the XFCE environment and how its faster than Gnome in many situations. I would have switched to XFCE earlier if it wasn't for me worrying about applic...

Re: My call for a fast booting distro

You can use Chrome OS.

Ok now jokes aside, I have found that Linux Mint 10 on my machine boots up within 25 secs. So I would assume Mint XFCE or something else along those lines would boot up rather quickly.

Well I have installed LMDE and now I have the desktop I'm use to. And for some reason I just like ubuntu's dark greys and oranges. I don't know, something I have grown accustomed too haha.

Re: Linux Mint look like Ubuntu?

Thanks for the fast responses. I have installed Linux Mint before but never fully gotten into it due to the theme. I guess I'm more of an ubuntu person. But I'll play around with some of the controls in a LiveCD. Thanks again!

Linux Mint look like Ubuntu?

Hi this is my first post on the Linux Mint forums. I have been using Ubuntu since 9.10 and I have considered moving to Linux Mint due to Ubuntu's decision to move to Unity. I was wondering if I could customize Linux Mint 10 to look nearly identical to Ubuntu 10.10. Meaning get rid of the green look,...
