Re: ONCE AGAIN... FF!! Stop breaking linux with updates

Two critical differences: no updates, full hardware control. but thats no good for every one else who wants to use , mint, arch, ubuntu etc.. when valve offer their software it wont look any different to now but on their custom build that will keep working whilst a casual mesa update breaks it for ...

Re: ONCE AGAIN... FF!! Stop breaking linux with updates

Consistent Naming system in relation to workspaces

Hi, Im running the latest cinnamon which is excellent and improving all the time. one thing i have noted about cinnamon and its workspace / hot corner is how you can now (and i often do) name each workspace, right? so, when i right click on my open program window or file browser window bar etc.. i g...

Re: Linux Mint 14 RC

errrg Ubuntu is hideous!

fair play, the graphics issue persists on ubuntu. So this is great, no 5850 driver for 64bit thats stable, i find this impossible to belive.

mint 14 is beutiful, if only i could get a stable upto date AMD graphics driver ? any ideas?

Re: Linux Mint 14 RC

Re: Human "field guides" for getting at specific bugs?

it isn't that easy since not much of us have dual monitor setups, FYI a HUGE amount of PC people in general have multiple monitors and many have eyefintiy or nvidia 3d vision multiple monitor setups too. By now every linux distro should easily cater for multiple monitors, extended desktops, mixed r...

Re: 1 frame of residual image / interference on login ?

changed around a few things, it still does it. really annoying makes cinnamon feel unstable. It might just be placebo but it feels like the gpu is being taxed more a bit when the menu is at the top of the screen, it feels snappy when its at the bottom? has anyone got any ideas as to why this is happ...

Re: 1 frame of residual image / interference on login ?

i have noticed the screen pauses and for a moment i can see the greyish unity bar at the bottom (well.. the bar that used to be at the top with the figure of 8 hotcorner on) then this gets cleared and in that moment the screen is paused and the refresh is drawn with the cinnamon bar at the top ? i w...

1 frame of residual image / interference on login ?

a small thing but really annoying. when logging in to cinnamon (well, it just loads to desktop now) i get 1 frame for about 1 second of static like a residual image before the desktop loads, its like a smeared out and de-interlaced pre-frame before the actual desktop is drawn ?? any ideas, it looks ...

Re: Would like to see basic shutdown timer for cinnamon

Thanks Veggen ! That command is really helpful and so simple too. I can see this being a quick win for many and it does indeed separate cinnamon from other distro`s and their desktops, in fact I already love the way cinnamon feels. Many of the cairo dock applets could be integrated cleanly with the ...

Re: please allow for xbmc to launch as an 'application' prop

decided to launch xbmc (logged out) on the laptop, connected via cable so settings were intact. The video does indeed not play smooth at all, it speed fluctuates, last week i tried an 1080p MKV rip (VC1 inside the container) with lossless audio to my laptop from my desktop pc (both on ethernet) it w...

Re: please allow for xbmc to launch as an 'application' prop

phill1978, I forgot to ask if you have addressed the issue of buffering? Some say that nothing can be done because the problem lies on the network and not on your machine. Others say that you can add an advancedsettings.xml file to - in my case - /home/jjm/.xbmc/userdata. Any ideas from your end? g...

Would like to see basic shutdown timer for cinnamon

Hi, I was using Cairo-dock and the shutdown applet allows for a timer to be set before actually shutting down! i think this would integrate with the shutdown button on cinnamon really nicely. I wasnt keen on cairo dock as it was too busy and didnt fit with cinnamon too well but the features there ar...

Hi Adler, I reinstalled xbmc like so below: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install xbmc Then.. added XBMC to the panel (and to desktop) I can confirm it now launches as a program and doesnt log me out :D :D :D this is a great start, so now im thinking from pla...
