Re: which spark makes or fixes USB wireless drivers with LIN

You are sure the necessary .sys files are in the same directory as the .inf file? im not sure how to tie the two together? i managed to makefile on the latest RAlink drivers but after this im not sure where im meant to go or if there is a compiled file, if there is where should it go? sigh, i might...

Re: which spark makes or fixes USB wireless drivers with LIN

@JasonLG no im not afraid to get my hands dirty but we live in a fast paced world where i don't always have the clarity of mind or time to extensively sit and setup parts of my O/S, i work hard and generally when im home and on linux im not at my best it needs to be easier than the stuff i deal with...

which spark makes or fixes USB wireless drivers with LINUX?

just wondering when a manufacturer sells an item as linux compatible but only releases source code and not a driver, is it up to the consumer to make it work? i have a new Edmix EW-7722UTn wireless USB dongle 300mbs and it is seen in lsusb, i can extract the ra2870.inf from the install cd using wine...

Re: USB wireless N adapter is incredibly slow

just as some info. whatever the slowest device you have on your wireless network, the network will step down to those speeds as a legacy protection mechanism.

Re: Ok admiting defeat, still cant see other machines on lin

Since you didn't go to the Kubuntu website to download it then We'll go with Gnome. (1) Stop using smb4K. OK. (2) Open a terminal from the Mint machine and type: nautilus smb://whatever-you-called-the-Ubuntu-machine I can't figure out if it's "home-store" or "home-storage" Nautilus should open up t...

Re: Ok admiting defeat, still cant see other machines on lin

You could also use webdmin --a web based administration option.. http://www.webmin.com/ well i think all this typing is reminding me how i dont really know how to use a computer like i used to ! its good for me, albeit frustrating. i managed to get the webdmin downloaded to trial aswell as smb4k. i...

Re: Ok admiting defeat, still cant see other machines on lin

Could you tell us if you are using Gnome or KDE please. If you are using Gnome there is an almost WinXP-like way to create Samba shares from the file manager itself. And there is a native gnome utility that can scan, mount , and even automount on boot all your remote shares. i know this sounds bad,...

Ok admiting defeat, still cant see other machines on linux!

Re: I have a suggestion if anyones interested (network)

hi, sorry I must of confused people, it wasn’t my intention to ask for help on my broadband connection. I was highlighting that millions (i do not exaggerate) of people suffer from intermittent broadband, this is usually if a problem exists (however small) on the line OR there is a bandwidth cap on ...
