Is it just me or is cinnamon still a total crash fest?

Last night i was uploading a file (on a painfully slow connection) Cinnamon crashed when moving a window. Result = reboot and try again, many hour...

How to disable Enourmous Volume Pop up ?

Just wondering, if i use my keyboard media keys and change the volume a huge ( over sized ! who thinks of these things??) icon appears.

How can i disable it? For practical reasons it inteferes with full screen games when changing the volume and can minimise the application.

Many thanks

Re: Which do you prefer: Cinnamon or XFCE?

KDE :) but if its between cinnamon and XFCE. Well it has to be XFCE by quite a long shot. Sure Cinnamon is really nice and i think one day it might replace XFCE. And sure XFCE does lack some of the nice apps Cinnamon has. But in the end what you want is A.) stability and B.) performance. XFCE and K...

Re: mdmwebkit - high cpu usage (Mint 15 Cinnamon)

I posted about this a while ago. I have a power meter connected to my PC on the HTML login screen idle power is over 100W on full APU load. this needs resolving, it would be hideous if this were run on a laptop and it would drain the battery. Here: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=60&...

HTML5 MD Animated login window 100% CPU usage

Just incase nobody has checked this before (why would they !) I have a wallwart power usage monitor. On idle desktop my CPU is idle at 34w but if i logout to MDM with the animated blue KDE and Cinnamon Green wallpaper (HTML animated) the power usage is 101W so anyone who is sitting at the login scre...

support it generally terrible on here. Go to Phoronix forums or a general linux forum your asking for help on cinnamon? Mint dont make cinnamon your asking for help on linux packages? Mint use Ubuntu repositories Mint team only do the trimmings and re-packaging so you dont have to. when people get a...

Re: Major KDE Developer Says Goodbye to Ubuntu

ok i was so disapointed because SolydK wouldnt work with Catalyst 13.11 beta 9 Black screen and x.server mess up. The download servers for Solydk are terribly slow took an hour to install the whole thing and i tried twice to get it working with catalyst to no avail. pulling my hair out as it is othe...

Re: Major KDE Developer Says Goodbye to Ubuntu

How do you pronounce it ? Solydk is great :D As good as mint. I couldnt spot the update manager that supplies me with my bi-yearly desktop breakages? hmm  Id like in reality for this to move to BSD also and support ZFS, but as it stands a stable Linux distro + KDE is a win. It has all the right...

Re: Desktop freezes at starting cinnamon with open amd drive

same desktop freeze then 100% CPU system locked at random intervals with Cinnamon and catalyst. I need it for steam, FOSS is close but there is a lack of a Display manager in FOSS so i cant change my desktop saturation or control vsync without. Also FOSS is 25% slower which in perspective is a great...

Re: Cinnamon hangs often. I can't even move the mouse pointe

I also have this. AMD APU + Catalyst driver. No widgets just a normal simple desktop. It hangs from time to time and a complete reboot is needed. all upto date which is annoying because i was playing a steam game doing really well and the system hung ... twice  I must admit i only use Linux Mi...

LEVEL 3 update. Click update Broken Desktop Yay. Mesa/fglrx update just 10mins ago broke the desktop. Xserver screwed up. Re: Major KDE Developer Says Goodbye to Ubuntu

I too would also like to know. Im a big KDE fan. Over the last two years i have tried many DE's and run their full options exploring their stability and configurability only two stand out but for me there is one with a foot over the line and that is KDE, the other is XFCE. Both (today, perhaps not i...

Re: How to snapshot easily from a gui and how to rollback

Install grub-imageboot, create folder /boot/images, add Clonezilla .iso to folder /boot/images, update-grub. Clonezilla should now show on the grub menu and boot. This software will allow you to image and restore your system from grub, as requested. Thank you for the advice i am aware of clonezilla...

Re: How to snapshot easily from a gui and how to rollback

LLVM does not provide snapshots of the system, AFAIK. Reread any references which gave you that impression. The only references Google gave to 'llvm snapshot' referred to snapshots of the LLVM software, not a system snapshot. System file snapshots can be had from either ZFS or BTRFS, but they both ...

How to snapshot easily from a gui and how to rollback

Hi, Thanks for Mint 16 Cinnamon ! its brilliant. Obviously there are some bugs that will never get fixed like the catalyst expo mode issue but on the whole its amazing. Now. I managed to get LLVM + Encrpyted install working even though i have a Uefi motherboard. Took a tiny bit of fiddling but it wo...

Re: LinuxMint on RAID

It does seem an Odity with Linux that RAID support on the web is hard to find or almost not even talked about .. swept under the carpet. I think its because of ZFS but .. hang on, thats on BSD. So it seems linux has a weakness.. no RAID equivelent.. I hear someone reply "btrfs" but thats b...
