kde smoother for gaming than cinnamon

my experience playing Kiliing floor, Counter Strike and Team fortress 2 is that KDE is a lot smoother than cinnamon. I get stutter on cinnamon but if i log out and into KDE i do not. Tried usual settings but its still there. The desktop is nice and quick on cinnamon but something is up with frames /...

returned to kde and impressed!

I was running it previously about 2 months ago and it was nigh on perfect but a few bugs and a slight slowness compared to xfce was enough for me to try cinnamon. Well Ive returned after some laggy cinnamon gaming performance and i can say that its now super fast and feels really stable. There is al...

Re: Why is Firefox so Slow on Mint 15?

This probably doesnt help. With regards to smooth scrolling on firefox. This has been a problem for over a year now. I can replicate the issue as I run an AMD graphics card. Tested on a 5850 and now more recently an A10-5800k APU. With Catalyst 13.4 / 6 / 8 bascially any catalyst driver for over a y...

Trash from previous install in new install

Just a heads up. If you install a new copy of mint over an existing one as a fresh install the trash from the old is often there :? obviously a bug. I was moving from an xfce install to a fresh cinnamon install, emptied the trash and noticed some old album cover from my last install i had deleted th...

Re: Cinnamon and the slow menu from the stoneage

I think the bigger issue is a wider one. Mint team can create / package some things like driver manager, Mint update etc.. but in reality Mint is very much like Ubuntu in its inception that is to say they (without sounding rude) other peoples great work and bring it all together in a cohesive manner...

Re: Irritating pause before menu is displayed

Here .. http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=208&t=116702 Last post. I belive cinnamon is being re-written or moved from gnome so eventually it will get fixed. I have to be honest with you my experience of DE feedback has been great on XFCE, the community cares. With cinnamon you have all the...

its just the number at the bottom of the specific forum list, a historical numbering of pages. It 'was' on page two but by now it might be 3 or 4

Re: Some Help please refining my XFCE desktop (Panel Launche

no replies as of yet? hmm.. i think this is one of XFCE's few weak areas then? Its a bit of a big fail.

minimising from a launcher to the same launcher icon has been around for ages and forms one of the key things a desktop user expects :?

Some Help please refining my XFCE desktop (Panel Launcher)

Hi, Love XFCE but there is one thing (well two but i dont want KDE just to do it) that I cant achieve easily (by the GUI anyway) with XFCE. I have a 2nd Panel with very large icons on my desktop (size 80). It is filled with multiple 'launchers' each launcher is a program, So Firefox / Clementine / V...

Re: pimping xfce 15

my tweaks: . Remove Mint Cog menu, add Whisker menu (ok its the same thing right?) but the Icon for Whisker is way nicer ! . Get a nice theme like '+1' for a flat / windows 8 / smart phone look . incresase the panel in size (dependent on resolution and screen size) I run 1080p so my Task bar is set ...

Two things missing for me in XFCE

1. Expo / Scale mode 2. Events history for system tray indicator. in particular the missing of number 2 really bites as i listen to a lot of digital radio feeds and cinnamon and KDE keep a history of information events one of which is the tracks that have been playing, so i can go back and look them...

Is this possible? gnome slider

is there a widget, or a mechanism to slide a desktop workspace left to right using the mouse? So if you imagine the Gnome 3 screen saver where you use the mouse to lift up a screen and the other is revealed underneath.. is this possible to do on the KDE desktop so i can grab the edge of a screen and...

anyone else got a memory leak on LM15 Cinnamon?

Cinnamon has a big memory leak for me. it climbs 15meg every few seconds and ate 6gb of ram. This was meant to be fixed with the latest update but not its still a proble, :?

anyone else experience this? go into system monitor and look at the ram climb
