Re: Linux Mint 15 XFCE + Compiz (broken; missing XFCE suppor

Its about hide time that XFCE incorporated some minimal and stable effects for XFCE. The new menu is 3rd party even. I know xfce is light but so are a few others.. in fact the other Light weight DE's are even faster and lighter. Perhaps MATE should take up where compiz left off and bring just 1 hand...

Re: Irritating pause before menu is displayed

ohh forgot to add this may at least explain how its not the mint teams fault.. Oh this is so pissing me off. Apparently, it's impossible to preload an application menu and application switchers within the current GNOME Shell codebase. The crappy macBooks from my colleagues are snappier. They laugh a...

Re: Irritating pause before menu is displayed

this has been mentioned many times where something like 75% of users noticed on all types of hardware.

not sure if cinnamon 1.8 has fixed this? have you had a look around on the cinnamon website / bug tracker ?

I also think it makes the whole of cinnamon feel gloopy and slow.

Re: jumping ATI ship, swimming over to Nvidia?

does the opensource driver offer a GUI or is there a custom community one ?

if not, how does a gamer expect to tune any of the many settings the closed source offers?

Also does the opensource driver support crossfire or trifire ?

thanks

Re: Greeter application appears to be crashing

cinnamon feedback from devs is poor. thats why as beautiful as cinnamon is i went to KDE, there is a huge ammount of bug fixing and automated bug reporting tools there.. ohh and its actually 100% stable on normal activities, only messing to much with widgets and resizing causes some minor kde bug bu...

Ok, I know this might have some people pull their hair out but I cant for the life of me understand the logic here and why linux works this way v windows. (waits for a collective sigh) .. Re: Totally prefer KDE to Cinnamon

Loved cinnamon but for me it was unbelievable and totally ruined with 15, not sure what went wrong but it was crashing all the time. If your a tweaker like me you could spend a few hours easily setting things how you want them and this is where cinnamon falls down. It can quickly look neat and amazi...
