Re: Thunderbird 5 in LMDE

Well that was weird!! I downloaded thunderbird 5 again, unpacked it and moved it to /opt which is exactly what I was doing earlier and this time it worked.

Re: Thunderbird 5 in LMDE

Right,

I have deleted Thunderbird 5 and started again from scratch with downloading and unpacking it. When I click to launch it it starts to load up but only gets so far before it closes, could I be missing a library?

Re: Thunderbird 5 in LMDE

Hi everyone,

I've just downloaded Thunderbird 5, unpacked it and set up the short cut on my desktop but the program is not launching. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jeff

Re: Mint 11 KDE development

Ubuntu based distros don't work on my PC due apparently to RAID technology so I wholly welcome this switch to Debian, add to that the changed repos and hopefully soon a fix for the Nvidia problems and I will be very happy :D

Desktop doesn't start

Hi everyone, I've just spent ages updating LMDE, rebooted so I start with the latest kernal bu the desktop doesn't start up. I get a screen like ctrl alt F1 has been pressed asking me to login, pressing ctrl alt F7 only bought up a black screen with a flashing cursor. I have tried rebooting and sele...

Re: Screen resolution keeps resetting

I have an nVidia graphics card but have no driver installed, I understand something to do with nVidia is currently broken so I haven't even tried to install the driver.

Screen resolution keeps resetting

Hi everyone, I have installed KDE today to use instead of gnome. I have changed my monitor settings to1024 x 768 and saved that as the default resolution but each time I boot up the resolution has reset itself to 1280 x 1024 meaning I have to keep changing the resolution. Also the Panal at the botto...

Re: How can I make a new updated install image

I have updated LMDE with a new kernal etc and used mintconstructor, I booted from the CD and I checked the kernal version to see if it was the new version but it was still the old one.

Re: How can I make a new updated install image

I think Linux n00b means he wants to make a new Live CD of his current installation so that he does not have so many updates to do should he need to reinstall.

Re: Fresh install, update fails

Do Just level one updates, then just level two updates and then just level three.

That worked for me to start with.

[SOLVED] Reinstalled, Updated and now locks up

Hi everyone, After a bit of hassle I have now reinstalled LMDE gone to update everything. Level one updates were ok, level two updates were ok, level 3 updates downloaded ok and installation started. Part way through the installation I was asked to reinstall Grub but it wouldn't let me so I had to c...

Re: LMDE: A Great Disappointment <Decision Time>

I agree with the OP. But, that's because the Mint team doesn't care about Debian. Their download still gives you the .32 kernel. So, their beloved 'Ubuntu version' is up to date and they make sure you know all about Mint 11. The Debian version (LMDE) has almost no info provided at all. Yep, big dis...

Re: Firefox 5 upgrade?

I've done that and there is a link to click on that takes me to the Mozilla website but no button. Why would you not upgrade this way? Strange, mine (v4.0.1) does have a button for checking for updates on the 'About' dialog. Honestly don't know why yours wouldn't. I just wouldn't go this route beca...

Re: Firefox 5 upgrade?

I've had one notification from Firefox that an upgrade is available but I had to stop it as everyting was running at a snails pace. I know Firefox 5 will soon be available through the repositories but just out of interest, is there away to make Firefox 4 check again for the update? If you go to Men...

Re: Firefox 5 upgrade?

The same. Just downloaded the Linux localized version from Mozilla site. No need to compile anything. :) I had previously installed FF 4.01 on /opt. I just had to download it, uncompress and move the new firefox folder on /opt to replace the old one. Nothing can be more easy. I tried that but FF5 w...

Re: thinking about LMDE

I installed LMDE a while back with no problems, before that I tried Mint 10 and it refused to recognize the partitions on my hard drive. I spent most of last week trying to install Ubuntu 11.04 but that wouldn't recognize any partitions either so now I am happily back to LMDE and had very little pro...
