Re: Hidden doors on the backside of the house?

Temptation stick with 1 distro, cosy. Unfortunately have always hedge bets. Apart from Cinnamon also have KDE, but on another distro. Always have to be on look-out for up and coming distro.

Enjoy while you can

Normally run skype with one less degree of complexity, so have you tried just:
    Run (Alt+F2): env PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=30 skype ?

They used to say frequent stopping and starting up of the disk drives was bad for them. Is that now no longer the case?

Re: How to install Blue Griffon web editor

Have also downloaded and used Blue Griffon a while back. Always find it more dependable not to rely on a GUI. So in a Terminal if you are not user root , and if file is in your home directory: sudo mv bluegriffon-1.7.2.Ubuntu13.04.i686.tar.bz2 /opt cd /opt sudo tar xjf bluegriffon-1.7.2.Ubuntu13.04....

Re: Home partition. What does it do?

My former partition setup was: 15 GB for root you could probably get away with a total of <15GB for your Mint installation. I'm getting away with 1 plus a bit GiB. But then not too demanding of the system. 2 GiB sounds ample. So including 1 for the pot, 3 Gib should do the trick. After all you can ...

Re: Does Subtitleeditor still crash when opening video file?

After not finding gnome-subtitles yesterday, thought would search once more for Jumbler Subtitle Εditor, but with googling as well. Came up with Jubler Subtitle Εditor , yet another web misspelling  V. easy to install, just need mplayer and interface not too difficult. :) Certainly solved my p...

In the more modern releases from a terminal type inxi -F Which gives all your info. Thanx. That was all the info had been looking for that time, except for the fact that after showing the first 3-4 lines there was quite a pause followed by system crash. On reboot ran first thing, and everything cam...

Re: Does Subtitleeditor still crash when opening video file?

Yesterday tried for first time and could not open a . sub file. Shortly after crashing the system went down. The second time system survived, but system performance severely affected. Gnome Subtitles works fine. Also tried to find same package, software manager couldn't find it, only found aegisub ,...

I did download and install Okular through Synaptic Package Manager. But it does not show up anywhere (that I can find) in my program list, not in Accessories, Office, or Graphics. That happens quite a lot. Did you try in terminal? whereis okular If it is in one of the bin files you can run it with ...

Re: Unable to mount blank disc-r disc (Linux Mint 14)

Just day before yesterday had same problem with blank disk. Is annoying. Now if I remember correctly, one has to close the alert informing of location being already mounted, and then in dialog of what to do with disk somehow or other choose brasero . Then brasero is loaded, and can proceed as normal.

Re: How to check my current version of Linux Mint?

You can also open the System Monitor. There is a tab 'System' where I guess you should have the Mint version, kernel version, Gnome version, processor, memory... That tab seems to have disappeared in Petra, which will tell you at least it's not Petra. After having looked hi & lo before for info on ...

Hello. I have a very old desktop computer (250 MB RAM, Pentium 4 2.6 GHz) with windows XP. I want to give it to an aunt that hasn't used a computer for several years, maybe since windows 98. She'll use it mostly for Internet browsing. What are your opinions or recommendations? Honestly, IMHO Androi...
