Perhaps the blinking component is being identified as suspicious by Evolution.
How would you tell Evolution that it is OK, "not suspicious" ?

Evolution email not correctly handling "blinking" component

I am occasionally receiving emails from a particular vendor which has a "blinking" component/line in its graphics and Evolution is not handling that blinking component correctly, Evolution just shows it as a "white flashing" in the body of the email. I can go to my email service provider's browser e...

Re: placement "location" of xclock on Linux Mint Mate desktop

Not that I know of, but that doesn't mean there isn't a way. I would simply plug in a couple of numbers, then adjust accordingly after seeing the result. You can also use negative numbers instead of positive to count from the lower right instead of upper left such as -geometry -100-150 That's what ...

For upper left corner:

Code: Select all

xclock -update 1 -geometry +0+0
Adjust to your preferences.
Is there any way to know (or guesstimate) what the x y axis would be other than just trial and error ?

Thanks.

placement "location" of xclock on Linux Mint Mate desktop

Is there a parameter/setting/switch for specifying the user desired initial placement "location/coordinates", of the xclock application on the Linux Mint mate desktop. i.e. where the user does not usually place other icons ?

startup xclock -update 1

Thanks.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I thought it had to work that way because it happens just to quickly for it to do some
long comparison file/application/package by file/application/package.

How does comparison of files on Mint server & files on remote installs work ?

How does the comparison of files on Linux Mint server (performed by update manager) and the current files installed on a remote Linux Mint install work, i.e. is there some type of index or summary like file allocation table on the server and workstation that are compared or is each and every file "p...

Re: serial number shown for USB devices when using Linux Mint disk utility

Thanks.

Hey, I learned my fact for the day.
Actually, the serial number of each SD card is printed on the back of the card just above the country of manufacturer.
But you must have a pretty good magnifying glass to be able to read it !!!

Moving files to trash bin in Linux Mint

If I have 2 SSD drives in my system, both connected via internal SATA and if I mount the second SSD (which is not a bootable drive - holds data only) and if I then move some files or folders (non-OS related) from both my internal drive which holds my Linux Mint OS including my /home info and also mo...

serial number shown for USB devices when using Linux Mint disk utility

I noticed this morning while formatting some Sandisk SD cards that on each and every card that I formatted that the serial number that was displayed by/on the Linux Mint disk utility was the same serial number. My guess is that this is being caused by the fact that the Linux Mint disk utility is act...

Linux Mint boot ISO on SD card

Can/should Linux Mint bootable ISO image be written to a SD card via the USB image writer
utility on the Linux Mint menu ? And if so, can Linux Mint live be booted to from that SD card ?

Thanks.

It wasn't a kernel update. It was a meta-package update, i.e. it was an update to information about a kernel.
Hmmmmm, so just a label/name then.

New kernel

Just did kernel update via update manager from 42.45 to 42.46.
Boy that sure was a FAST application of this update, so did it really do anything ?
These kernel updates usually take a fairly good bit of time to be downloaded and then installed.

Thanks.

Re: Cannot reach Linux Mint Forums from Verizon network

I'd rather have an explanation other than "gremlins" (they get such a bad rep) but I don't know what caused that Verizon customers on the east side of the US couldn't reach the forums and blog while they could reach the other Linux Mint websites. Sorry folks. With help of some of you here I narrowe...

Try Marco + Compton.

Marco + Compton provides the most simple and therefore lightweight compositor, Metacity and its variations are just a low-performance stopgap for maximum hardware compatibility.
Will try it, thanks.

The resizing does NOT work correctly on my Dell Optiplex 980, if the window manager is set to Marco ONLY. Works fine if the setting is set to Marco + compositing. Re: How to determine best choice for WINDOW MANAGER

What I am say is that you can apparently no longer use the choice of ONLY Marco, because if you do, you no longer have the ability to RESIZE open windows, the markers for expanding or retracting the size of the window do not appear. However, if you place the window manager choice on Marco + composit...

... Is there a listing which matches machine resources/hardware to a particular/best choice of windows manager ? This is Linux, it's unlikely you'd find a reliable one. Is there any particular reason you want a different WM? Generally the best one is going to be the best supported one, ie. fluxbox,...
