Re: Is my monitor running at 50Hz or 60Hz?

Well Nvidia is reporting the correct refresh rate - 60. I don't know why the Screen Resolution app is reporting 50; compiz also reports 50. It really doesn't matter, but there is a noticeable difference in compiz if you set the refresh rate to 60 and enable sync to VBlank; I also unchecked detect re...

Re: Flash problem it dies

This should fix it:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get purge flashplugin-nonfree gnash gnash-common libflashsupport mozilla-plugin-gnash nspluginwrapper swfdec-mozilla && sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree
Flash is uninstalled and then reinstalled.

the x64 ed is for WHEN?
I wouldn't worry about Mint 64 too much. I just tried Ubuntu 64 and the 64 bit Flash player is just horrible... Going back to the regular Mint.

Re: Intel Core i7 and Nvidia GTX 280 Support

Before, I have used Ubuntu, but found out that for some reason, the drivers for my old graphics card never worked (8600 GTS) so I was wondering if my new computer would have/eventually have better support for it. My specs are: Intel Core i7 920 EVGA GTX 280 Graphics Card EVGA 132-BL-E758-A1 X58 Mot...

Re: Flashing Screen

This is most likely a video card driver problem. If possible, update to the latest driver. Nvidia just released the 180.22 driver's today. If a driver update doesn't fix your problem, you might want to try this:

Re: Felicia stopped recognizing Nvidia card?

If you just performed a kernel update, follow these steps:

1) Press Ctrl-Alt-F1
2) Type sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop
3) Type sudo sh NVIDIA* -K
4) Reboot

If not, the easiest way is to update your drivers using Envy:

1) sudo apt-get install envyng-core

2) sudo envyng -t

Re: Nvidia restricted drivers killed X

this may be an exceedingly daft question, but where do i find the nvidia settings? edit - ok, done that, but i've got the two monitors running on separate x servers, is this the correct way to be doing it? if i'm switching workspaces i'd rather have both screens switch at the same time. and no, Xin...
