Mint/Ubuntu/ Gnome 3 - good fonts?

Having blown a lot of my Mobile Broadband data allowance with my most recent installs and updates I'm not free to look into this myself just yet - but, how is the font rendering looking with Linux Mint or Ubuntu with the Gnome 3 desktop? Is there anything about Gnome 3 which means it sadly bypasses ...

Where is the URW Gothic L font? - SOLVED

Whereabouts is the font URW Gothic L stored in an installation? It's not in usr/share/fonts. Someone wants me ot pass it on to them who doesn't use an OS with this or a comparable font. I did google to see if it could be downloaded but maybe it has another name.

Thanks.

Re: Mint-X theme - rounded bottom corners?

Excellent, glad someone got back to me about this, I'll give it a go later! Maybe looking at another Metacity file in conjunction with your notes will help me see where the adjustment's needed. Thanks.

Re: Sharing some minor tips - Mint 11

I haven't been able to get onto the Mint website for two days, maybe server trouble again. Anyway, there's a couple of things in the attachment that might be of use. I'm not making big claims for my tweaks, I know the hard work's been done, but using these bits has enabled me to stop faffing with bu...

Re: Sharing some minor tips - Mint 11

Belated thanks for that link - I have done it in the end after a few days of Mutter and a few of Debian with Gnome compositing. I'm finding my mere netbook super-smooth now, possibly moreso than Mint 9 was. Once Compiz is rolled back, the overlay scrollbars are removed and the resize handles are gon...

Re: [solved] Grab handles - Wanting to remove them

I'm a bit puzzled by this, the handles aren't new are they, they're just buggy now. Is there maybe a fix that doesn't involve getting rid of them but making them as they were at least in Mint 9?

Mint-X theme - rounded bottom corners?

I'd like to round the bottom corners of the Mint-X metacity border, just for when it's a normal window, not maximised. The Equinox theme's border is the kind of thing I mean. I've changed the word 'false' to 'true' in a line that might look like it'd do this job, but though the corners become rounde...

Sharing some minor tips - Mint 11

I was glad I wasn't either imagining things or had found I'd just bought a dud netbook when I read that Compiz is behaving oddly. No shadows and fades at all looks a bit basic so I tried Mutter, installed that and added mutter --replace to the startup programs and it's fine, smooth even on an Atom-p...
