Re: LM11 x64 nvidia gforce 330m: adjust screen brightness

Not a bug Next time just ASK before you stress it lol. What ya did was told grub that LINUX will control the acpi and not bios. Windows uses bios to acpi code to allow them to talk to each other via 3rd party, this is only possible if they release the code to be included into the kernel. Just a litt...

Re: How do you create a iso image

Curious, I show them both installed and working no problem. To my knowledge iso master uses genisoimage.

pick were to save the iso and that is it.

Easy as it gets.

Once the iso is done, you can write the iso to USB or disk.

Re: How do you create a iso image

So your downloading the ISO's then adding them in mass to a ISO to be written to say CD or DVD ? Easy to do. Don't know of a way to make them all auto install. Better to pick the distro like mint, add all the apps and updates etc you want. Then spin a redistributable ISO that you can then install on...

Re: mint katya install problem

Just a thought, but have ya tried mint 9 based on LTS ?

reckon a better fit for 7 year old system.

I have had the best of luck with mint 11 on 3 year old or newer systems.

Re: How do you create a iso image

not sure what your trying to do, but I use ISO master to make my iso's that are not an OS its self.

Just drag and drop the files to be included in the iso then export to a raw iso.

Re: Kernel 2.6.39-2-686-pae panics on unmount of external hd

I encountered several issues with 2.6.39.2 kernel.

broadcom drivers b43 & sta broke

broke i7 and i5 turbo support

broke acpi on several intel based builds

failure to mount external media

went back to 2.6.39.1 or 2.6.38-10 and all was well.

That kernel needs work yet lol.

Re: Why do new people give up on Linux?

I had a absent minded shrink/client leave Linux for windows the other day. Hes always been a tad slow , but it became quite clear the reason was he had not the time to learn something a bit different. Used windows all his life and I had removed some 19 viruses and another 200+ maleware from his syst...

Lots of ideas troubleshooting 101 start basic and work your way up Lets start with temps ? 8 GB of ram ? What speed ? Tested stable with what for how long ? Then turn your attention to CPU. memory controller etc. bios settings are all to often over looked, high end systems are NOT as simple as setup...

Re: Lenovo IdeaPad 710 Wireless not working

you can also grab ubuntu 2.6.38-10.44 kernel from here.

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/natty/

search for

linux-headers-2.6.38-10

linux-headers-2.6.38-10-generic

linux-image-2.6.38-10-generic

use gdebi to install them in that order.

then fully update the system.

Re: Fan speed problem in HP G62

I don't sale or offer ATI laptops due to heat and low life spans. My Intel 540m runs around 32c idle and 42 to 44 max load. Don't think I have ever really heard the fan lol. Cooler pad will NEVER be needed. Keep in mind my friend, ATI/AMD has always been a bit slow on the support end of things. ATI ...

hey, had a laptop with this wireless card once.
Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 4965 AG
I did have it working, but not with out work.

I do recall mint 11 was a matter of updates and a kernel upgrade.
