Re: Update has broken Wine

I used Timeshift to roll back and then install updates except wine. That fixed it. I have blacklisted wine in Update Manager as the update is clearly broken.

Re: caution on upgrading to Wine 4.0 bionic

I had the same experience. It seems that the update has changed the directory structure apparently resulting in broken symlinks. See viewtopic.php?f=47&t=293660

Re: Update has broken Wine

Flemur, This is the only one that recognises that wine is installed: ~ $ dpkg -l "*wine*" | grep ii ii wine-stable 4.0~bionic amd64 WINE Is Not An Emulator - runs MS Windows programs ii wine-stable-amd64 4.0~bionic amd64 WINE Is Not An Emulator - runs MS Windows programs ii wine-stable-i386:i386 4.0...

Re: Update has broken Wine

Flemur, That is after the "wine not found" error. There is now a wine directory in /opt but not in /usr/lib. I suspect that this has resulted in a symlink error(s)/ omission(s) in the update package. I am checking some of them. For example, /etc/alternatives/wine is broken because it has a symlink t...

Re: Update has broken Wine

This doesn't look right. Package Manager says that I now have these installed:
wine-stable
wine-stable-amd64
wine-stable-i386:i386
wine1.6
wine32:i386
wine 64

[SOLVED] Update has broken Wine

Since I accepted upgrade to wine-stable 4.0 in Update Manager wine no longer works. Trying to run a program on wine produces this error: Command 'wine' not found, but can be installed with: sudo apt install wine-development sudo apt install wine-stable Running sudo apt install wine-stable confirms t...

Re: [SOLVED TEMPORARILY] ALL Add ons suddenly stopped working in Firefox 66.3

I have the message that several add-ons "could not be verified for use with Firefox . Proceed with caution" - but they are still enabled and still work! These include uBlock Origin and Behind the Overlay. Checking further I realise that my experience is different from others is because I already had...

Re: Sometimes I lose control when the computer goes to sleep

What I do is alter these preferences:

Power Management Preferences: On AC Power tab: put computer to sleep when inactive for: never

If you think you might accidentally press suspend button also do this:
Power Management Preferences: General tab: when the suspend button is pressed: Do nothing

Re: Amazon Prime video won't play in Firefox

Amazon Prime video works perfectly for me in LM 19.1 and Firefox 66.0. It has also worked in previous versions of LM and Firefox. I think you need to carefully check your settings. In Preferences you need DRM enabled and in Addons>Plugins set Widevine to Always Active.

Re: Can't Play Amazon Video In Linux Browsers

Firefox 65 plays Amazon Prime Video perfectly for me.
Check these Firefox settings:

Preferences>General: Play DRM-controlled content - enabled
Plugins: Widevine Content Decryption Module - set to Always Activate.

Re: How to install WINE on mate 19.0

Note that Wine is a risk: https://easylinuxtipsproject.blogspot.com/p/wine.html A risk you might be willing to take nevertheless, but you need to realize what it means for your security. This depends on what Wine is used for. If none of the programs running on Wine connect to the internet where is ...

[Solved] xbrlapi zombie process

System monitor on one of my machines shows a zombie process: xbrlapi. Can anyone suggest what this is a remnant of? I assume this is a program not cleaning up properly.
