Re: unable to shutdown

@catweazel Sorry. I thought it was related to the topic and specifically JoeFootball's reply. I was seeking clarification for those of us with AltGr rather than Alt on the right side of the keyboard.

Re: unable to shutdown

As an alternate option, hold down Alt + SysRq , and type r e i s u o , waiting a second or two between keystrokes. This will (usually) shutdown your computer cleanly, and preserve your file system. More info here and here . Joe My keyboard has a left Alt key and on the right is an AltGr key. Alt an...

Thanks for the explanation JosephM. I was wondering why Disks did not respect the Titlebar Buttons Left setting.

I received it too yesterday but it was blocked by my provider's spam filter. I know the address it was sent to has been the subject of data breaches in the past, not only but including the Linux Mint forum. Re: 20 Firefox windows open upon startup!

Check in System Monitor>Processes and see if firefox is listed. If it is listed highlight firefox, right click, and select End Process (or Kill Process if that does not work.) Then try restarting firefox.

Re: DPI too large - unable to fix

Thanks for your suggestions Helmut and JosephM. I was unable to move the window with the touchpad on my laptop. I think this only works with a mouse. Too late to try now I have done a new install. You suggestions may well have worked if I had fitted a mouse to the laptop. I will mark this as Solved.

Re: DPI too large - unable to fix

Thanks for the link Marziano. I had already found it but nothing there is a solution.
I wonder where the DPI setting is stored in MATE. Maybe I could edit the appropriate file?

[Solved] DPI too large - unable to fix

While changing the DPI on a laptop I increased to a much too high level. Now, because of this, I cannot scroll down to change it in Appearance>Fonts>Details. I was able to do a timeshift restore using the Live DVD but that did not fix it. Is there any way to change the dpi from terminal? That is the...

Re: MInt 19: python3 upgrade messed up. Update manager blocked.

Is the conclusion that the problem described in this thread is a special case caused by user action and it is safe for most users to accept the python3 upgrade in LM 19?

Re: Error when updating 18.1 Serenna

I reported to mirrorservice.org that the domain has expired. They say that the domain has now been renewed as is back pointing at their servers but it may take a while for it to start working for you whilst cached DNS entries clear out. They have renewed for 10 years to avoid another cock-up. Doesn'...

Thanks for the clarification, Karl. WineHQ statements always seem confusing! I am glad we can use the version from the Ubuntu repository.

Files are installed to /opt/wine-devel or /opt/wine-staging.
However, if upgrading 18.3 with wine installed to 19 files remain in .wine - and it works.

Re: What happened to the Wine section?

@Kelvin I have upgraded from 18.3 to 19. However, I had created items on the panel for the programs running on wine in 18.3 so they are still available. I did not notice the issue you raised until I checked the menu but I can confirm.

Generally looks impressive. Usual new release problem with Wine deb in Ubuntu repository not working. Hope that gets sorted out soon. There are a few threads on this in the WineHQ Forums.
