you might not get any suggestions, :( . until you tell us what graphics card and drivers you are using, what monitor(s), and how they are hooked up . . just for starters . . I have 6 monitors and several computers, and was hoping there was a general adjustment that would cover multiple combinations...

There is a nice GUI for adding to the Main menu at http://sourceforge.net/projects/lxmed. Help for beginners in installing
lxmed, and generally calibrating Mint LXDE at http://douwil7.100webspace.net/linux/mint.html .

I would like to echo Pjotr's comment - Mint LXDE has just the right balance. Thank you. It has been my experience, albeit limited, that if you just want something that works with minimum bother, then choose the distribution just before the latest regardless of type. To access Directories, I always add File Manager (pcmanfm) to the lower panel, which eliminates the need for Home on the desktop. Then I bookmark / and my network storage drive in the File Manager and opt for single click mode. A quick double click on the File Manager icon instantly brings up a dual...

There is a nice GUI Main Menu Editor at http://sourceforge.net/projects/lxmed. It also contains a nice edit tool for .desktop files.
