Re: Pls, how can I add wallpaper in Linux Mint 12 Lxde?

I've tried to copy and paste them into \usr\share\backgrounds, but I get an error message when I do, and the wallpaper doesn't appear in the folder. :( The file browser, Pcmanfm, under Tools in its taskbar, offers the user the immediate opportunity to reopen that directory as root. This allows you ...

Re: LMDE Latest Wine Install and PlayOnLinux

LokiFrost, the recipe in Section 7 of http://lxlinux.com/debian.html put a workable Wine on my 64-bit LMDE. Substituting appropriate 32-bit packages for the 64-bit ones should do the job for a 32-bit system.

Re: Where's the LXDE/Fluxbox desktops for version 13?

I have experimented with putting LXDE on all the mint releases and Xubuntu 12.04. The snappiest and most stable was on LMDE (http://lxlinux.com/debian.html), with Xubuntu (http://lxlinux.com/xubuntu.html) a close second. Mint Mate-Cinnamon and Mint XFCE were sluggish compared to these two.

Re: right mouse button and wallpaper

Enter into the terminal:

Code: Select all

pcmanfm --desktop-pref
. This will bring up the wallpaper GUI. Click Advanced in this GUI and untick the ensuing box to go back to the right click desktop mode for bringing up the GUI.

Re: Mint 13 LXDE. When?

I'll say it again, and it is only my opinion, which is based upon using all of the contemporary (since about 10) Mint and Ubuntu LXDE distributions quite a lot, there is nothing over-all (speed and reliability) better than LXDE on Mint Debian. The recipe for setting up a LMDE LXDE system is given he...

Re: Mint 13 LXDE. When?

Would the LXDE fans among us like me to post a tutorial on how to do this step by step? For LMDE: http://lxlinux.com/debian.html . For Xububtu 12.04: http://lxlinux.com/xubuntu.html . LXDE on Mint 13 XFCE and regular Mint were slow and sluggish - lost interest in them very quickly. LXDE over Xubunt...

Re: Why won't mouse settings save?

Many mouse and keyboard bindings are set in the openbox rc.xml file, which is normally located in 3 different directories:

Code: Select all

 ~/.config/openbox, /etc/xdg/openbox, /usr/share/lxde/openbox
.

Re: LMDE is really hard to love

I put a hybrid LXDE-XFCE desktop (see http://douwil7.100webspace.net/linux/Debian.htm ) on LMDE and been using it for about 3 months. It is the fastest and most stable (so far) distribution that I have ever used, and I have tried most of the LXDE distributions released in the last 2 or 3 years. Of c...

Re: HELP! in big fat red letters!!!(Lost all panel icons)

Reload Synaptic Package Manager (probably in Preferences), and reinstall lxpanel. Alternatively, sudo apt-get install lxpanel in terminal. If lxpanel freezes or gets messed up in the future, the first thing to try is lxpanelctl restart in the terminal. When lxpanel works it is very nice, but unfortu...

Re: install & remove programs/ppa : for lmde xfce

I mostly use Synaptic to remove applications. You can install a small system tool called upgrade-system using synaptic. Upgrade-system is configured to purge all packages that are not listed as another package's dependency. It has worked well for my LXDE Debian systems, removing dozens of unneeded l...
