Re: Installer won't boot in UEFI mode (just Legacy)

Grub is likely installed to your MBR. You might try installing grub-efi to your computer's boot partition. You might also check the structure of your boot system: efi/EFI/boot/ubuntu Then, reboot. No, I installed grub to sda2 where my EFI sits. Eveyrhting has been done correctly acording to tutoria...

Re: Installer won't boot in UEFI mode (just Legacy)

If you have try everything to boot Mint live in UEFI mode with no results (I have been trying from march 2014 and wait Mint 17.2 will solve MSI/MINT UEFI issue), you can install Mint in legacy and then change it to UEFI mode using Boot Repair USB if you want dual boot. Look here , there is nothing ...

Re: Various problems with XFCE Rebecca

I was adding some applets to my panel and dropbox icon magically reappeared. It seems that once you add or remove applets some library is being refreshed and updates. It could be any other reason like width (size) of panel, etc bu t I think best way to get dropbox icon is to add one panel, restart c...

Error correction and or protection ?

Hi guys, Very often I have to back up data or simply copy large amounts of data (>100GB each time). Copying on Linux is a pleasure, but errors do come from time to time. Especially if I need to copy from ext4 partition to ntfs and so on. Seems that cluster sizes and different architectures not alway...

6) Dropbox icon isn't visible after install? it used to be but now I cannot get it there. For me in 17.1, the Dropbox icon is only visible when Xfce4 compositing is off; when turned on, the icon disappears. Could be that Compiz has a similar problem. Thanks! :) To be honest - it could be anything. ...

Re: No sound from HDMI (was no display but that's fixed now)

This will probably not help you, but I realised that in many cases it's better to keep default drivers and not install nvidia drivers on linux. I have the same problem as you. Linux seems to be sending only video through HDMI but no audio. Can you make screenshot of your Sound settings / Volume cont...

Re: Linux Mint, Grub2 not booting windows 8.1

Hey,

Blinking cursor is a typical problem with Windows 8.1 and UEFI issues. Have you disabled fast boot on Windows 8.1 ? During Linux installation and partitioning - where have you installed boot manager ? There is an option at the bottom of partitioning manager.

Re: Split mint-meta-gnome & mint-meta-gnome-dvd

As an extra point, Linux Mint 12 should prevent users from removing important software to prevent newbies from accidentally destroying their OS. There should also be an option to disable it for advanced users. Simple information like below will do just fine: "Removing those packages will make your ...
