I'm on Cinammon Mint 20.
After I select a wifi network to connect to, the list of SSIDs disappears. Please see attached screenshot.

So two month? And you do not have sandpaper lining in your pocket i assume.. Then imo its not a question about you repairing the case, its much more a question about how fast you can walk to the store, and demand your money back! Yes, no sandpaper (lining) in the pockets. Unfortunately, to get a re...

Re: How can I always start computer with volume on mute and wireless turned off?
I suppose if you go menu/pref/network change the slide its off until turned on again. Same if you go to sound/ settings. And you could try the function keys. Sorry for not being clear. I wanted my computer to automatically start on mute with wifi off. This means that I don't want to have to manuall...

How can I always start Mint with volume on mute and wireless off, even I powered off computer with volume up & wifi on?
Every time I power on my computer, I'd like to start it with volume on mute and with wireless turned off. How can I do that?
Or, when I power off my computer, how can I get Mint to auto-mute and turn off wifi before it completely shuts down?
I'm on Cinnamon 20.

how can i edit the wifi name that's displayed in the "You are now connected to wifi network 'foo'" pop-up?
Note: I am asking just to change what's displayed on my Mint computer. I don't seek to change the SSID broadcast name itself. Connection Established You are now connected to the Wi-Fi network "peppermintea". https://i.imgur.com/aTDFmpd.png When I'm connected to a particular wifi network, h...

I just tried that, and grouping is still off.
Thanks so much though.

Re: How to list the filenames of all files in a folder's subfolders, in one terminal command
That part I can't help with I'm afraid. I believe it's hard coded to have the path with a semicolon at the end for each folder. There's still a way to do it, but it's beyond my abilities. Someone else should be able to help you get over that hurdle. I don't mind if there's a semicolon. :) I'm not p...

Re: How to list the filenames of all files in a folder's subfolders, in one terminal command
As a guess, I'll bet you want the folder paths changed to just the folder names. Would that be accurate? I think the answer to your question is yes. :) I *don't" want this sort of printout /home/folder/folder1 file1 file 2 file 3 /home/folder/folder2 filea file AB filebc Rather, I'd prefer som...

Sorry. I was so excited just to see something.
But I had to quickly erase the "[Solved]" from the OP's title.

Re: How to list the filenames of all files in a folder's subfolders, in one terminal command
MrEen. Not quite there. It doesn't include the name of the folder. When I wrote "Folder1" or "Folder2" in my OP, that's supposed to be the actual names of the subfolders. :) I want the actual subfolder names to be part of the output. :) What it did was list all the subfolder name...

list filenames of all files in a folder's subfolders, grouped by subfolder, in one terminal command [solved]
I have a folder containing about 9 subfolders. Each subfolder has about 10 files. How can I easily list, in one terminal command, all (approximately) 90 filenames, grouped by subfolder? The listing can appear in the terminal or can be outputted into a simple text file. All (approximately) 90 files a...

Re: How can I figure out why one USB port on laptop isn't working?
Since you state the port is on the left it is most likely a bad solder preventing it from working which a BIOS update would not fix. The two USB 3 ports on that side are on the same controller. The BIOS update would address some of the battery drain. It would be worth creating the boot media from t...

From https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/gb/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-edge-laptops/thinkpad-e570/downloads/driver-list/component?name=BIOS%2FUEFI I downloaded both the 7.62MB BIOS Update Utility exe and the 16.36 BIOS Update (Bootable CD) iso. I software-mounted the iso, and it shows as bla...

I found a bit more information on lsusb Deep Hardware Discovery With lshw and lsusb on Linux . It says, "The root hub is a virtual device that represents the USB bus." . It lists an example and says, "The above output is on an older system that includes both 3.0 and 2.0 controllers, ...

Re: How can I figure out why one USB port on laptop isn't working?
I have access to a Windows 10 computer. I borrowed a USB drive. I booted up the Linux Mint Thinkpad and entered the BIOS. For reference, here's the present information (before I update BIOS): Under the Main tab: UEFI BIOS version: R0DET95W (1.95) UEFI BIOS Date (2018-06-16) Embedded Controller Versi...

Re: How can I figure out why one USB port on laptop isn't working?
Thank you for your response. Your BIOS is way out of date. There's a newer version that fixes security issues and a battery drain problem among other things. Use the bootable CD download and then you don't need to bother with windows. Windows? Once I got my Thinkpad, I did a clean-install of Linux M...
