Re: Mint PHP Remote Control

For others that are curious, I found something that works great with linux. It's exactly what I need. I don't need anyone to remote to MY comptuer but wanted to remote to other people's computer. Logmein.com has a linux client that allows me to remote into other computers and it doesn't cost me anyt...

Re: Gloria KDE CE. When?

I would like very much to try it out. I tinker like mad so I would be more then happy to find any inconsistancies and or bugs. One thing I never liked about KDE 4.x is the network manager. Did I see someone say they were able to use gnome's network manager. Since I work in IT I like to be able to se...

Re: Mint KDE CE KDM and Ksplash screens (v1.0 - 6/5/09)

Hey wild... Sorry it took so long to get back to you on this one. I didn't read all the other replies before posting this so If I'm a broken record please forgive me. As for your question, personally I would go with moving the logo not the log in. It seems (and I could be wrong) that it would be too...

Re: Mint PHP Remote Control

I've seen a few out there and have used a few at my company on the intranet. Cisco has one that's outstanding. However those are commercial products that cost a truck load of money. I'm hoping for something free. Even if it doesn't offer complete control but allows me to see their desktop. Sort of l...

Mint PHP Remote Control

I was wondering if anyone knew of a good software written in php/mysql that would run from a linux (yes I'm using mint :) server that would allow visitors to the website to establish a remote control session with another visitor (myself). Reason: I don't want to pay for services and I don't want ser...

Re: Mint KDE CE KDM and Ksplash screens (WIP)

[Constructive criticism.] I like however.... The loading screen and log in screen hovering over the linux mint log seems hard on the eyes. My suggestion would be to move the logo somewhere so it doesn't clash. I like the dew and I like the logos. Just not to keen on them over lapping. Hope this helps.

Ah, gothcya.

However, the user guide hasn't been written yet, but will in time for the official release, which is why its link is there but broken.

Re: Linux Mint 7 RC1 released!

Where would we report any issues with Gloria that we've found so far? The only thing I've found so far is a simple link on the welcome to linux screen that you can choose not to show on startup. The link for the user's guide .pdf comes up as broken. All the other links work fine. I have not had any ...

Sybolic Link Maybe? Sharing File Issue

So I have this little computer I setup with Linux Mint. When I say little, I mean LITTLE. I have a USB hard drive that's a pretty large that I use to store all my music, videos, all things fun. What I would like to do (if it can be done) is this. The computer sits in the corner turned on but not log...

Re: Ventrilo Server for Linux @ Startup

Woot! I figured it out. I put the Info from the manual in /etc/init.d/rc.local inserted in line two. Works perfect. #! /bin/sh VENPATH=/home/ventrilo VENBIN=$VENPATH/ventrilo_srv su ventrilo -c "$VENBIN -f$VENPATH/ventrilo_srv -d" renice -5 `cat $VENPATH/ventrilo_srv.pid` PATH=/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/...

SOLVED: Ventrilo Server for Linux @ Startup

I've installed Ventrilo server for linux on my Elyssa box. I can run it, I can connect to it from outside my network and from within. The only thing I can't seem to do is to get it to start automatically. There are instructions in the manual that I've listed before but either I didn't do something r...

How to rip CD's To MP3

It's quite easy really. Linux Mint comes with everything you need to do this. 1. Insert the CD you want to rip. 2. The Rhythmbox 0.11.5 should open up. 3. Click on EDIT then PREFERENCES and click on the MUSIC tab. 4. Be sure that the Prefered format is set to MP3 or whatever format you want. And als...

Bluetooth on HP Laptop

I have an HP 6230 with integrated Wireless Network and Bluetooth card. I'm not exactly sure how to get blue tooth to pair with my bluetooth phone. Running on Elyssa Kernel 2.6.24-16-generic Ubuntu Release 8.04 (Hardy) I have the bluetooth manager icon in my system tray and when I right click on it, ...

Re: Building a New System

Fred, thank you for the input. The dual vs single card I thought 'might' be an issue under linux since most things these days are made specifically for winblows. I would of course like to hear more input on this particular issue. I do play world of warcraft on linux right now but in the future I mig...

Building a New System

My MOBO died and I'm looking to buy a new system. I wanted to run this through the forums to see if there would be any issues running linux mint on it before I buy it. If any guru's wouldn't mind taking a quick look to see if you see anything here that might pose a problem, I would be most greatful....

Re: 2 HDD, 2 BOOT LOADERS, Probably something easy

Beautiful, I'll give option 4 a whirl. I could probably also use the linuxmint live cd to do that but I'm sure that smaller one would run faster. To answer the questions above I did move the jumpers to select salvage drive as slave and didn't change the jumpers on the Master as it was already jumper...
