Re: DIY 64 bit Mint 12 Lisa LXDE

You're not party pooping at all. You're just giving a different perspective. It may be "common knowledge" for those in the know. That being said, I wrote that post for mint newbs, many of whom would be coming from MSFT or AAPL OS's and need a bit of hand holding. As for your statement that aftermark...

That's an easy one John Yates.

Go to your original post and hit the "edit" button. You can then add "Solved"

DIY 64 bit Mint 12 Lisa LXDE

There have been numerous requests for Mint 12 LXDE 64 bit. While the team has decided not to make a 64 bit version, there is a DIY workaround. This 64 bit LXDE will not be as lightweight as the 32 bit version developed by Clem and the team, but chances are if you want a 64 bit version, you’re not ex...

Re: Mint Desktop Environment Popularity Poll

I prefer LXDE. Gnome2 was fine but Gnome3 is just awful. If I had to rate them:

1 LXDE
2 MATE
3 Gnome2
4 XFCE
5 Unity
6 KDE
7 Gnome3

Re: Font size very small

I'm told that lxrandr is included in the final release. That should make it easier.

Try Menu->Preferences->Monitor Settings. Should be there.

Re: Font size very small

Try adjusting your screen resolution.

In Mint LXDE you need to install a resolution changer.

Go to Terminal and type in "sudo apt-get install lxrandr" type in your password when asked.

Once it is installed go to Menu->preferences->monitor Settings.

Let me know how it works out.

Do you have a large monitor set to a high resolution?

Re: linux mint 11 lxde nvidia driver

Do you have "NVidia X Server Settings" in the system tools menu? If so you should be able to edit some pertinent files in there.

Re: linux mint 11 lxde nvidia driver

Were you able to run `nvidia-xconfig` as root?

If so, what did you come up with.

Re: Add own application launcher to the LXDE panel

Specifically- Right click bottom panel->Panel Settings->Panel Applets->Application Launch Bar

You will then get a menu of what to add and how to order.

Hope this helps

Did you download from the Mint Software Manager or the NVidia Website?

Re: linux mint 11 lxde nvidia driver

Shay,

I've fiddled with Nvidia cards in the past but not that particular one. My best advice is to go into the Mint Software Manager (Menu-Software Manager) and type "NVidia in the searchbox. Install the package "settings" and the one "current" and see what you come up with.

Hope this helps.

Re: LXDE 12 RC : USB wireless adapter TL-WN822N doesn't work

Since it's a RC it might be worth trying to remove it manually. If it breaks it can just be reinstalled. As for the replacement or removal of obsolete drivers, perhaps you can sign up at the Mint community page and send a PM to clem and fredg. Clem is "the man" for mint and fredg is for the current ...

Re: Nvidia drivers linux mint 11 lxde

Shay, Every machine is different. I have used older Nvidia equipment a good bit in the past & I think you would be fine with the Nvidia drivers from the Mint repos or "Additional Drivers". I believe 260 to be the current there? From experience I can say that you should pay careful attention of each ...

Re: Where is LXDE 64bit?

Baptiste is correct.

Aftermarket LXDE on top of 64 bit Lisa Gnome is a wee bit heavier than the straight 32 bit LXDE, but a bit nicer as well.

Re: LXDE 12 RC : USB wireless adapter TL-WN822N doesn't work

Barakatax, That can be frustrating. It happened to me about a year ago. What I did to solve. I downloaded every possible driver for my device (variants, os, 64 or 32) Each one in it's own folder. Each one would have 3 files, an .inf, a .cat and one other. From there I started testing them using ndis...

Re: Any news on Linux Mint 12 LXDE?

I just did that, installed LXDE on my main linux mint 12 PC because I was fed up with gnome 3 memory usage (and general slowness with my old hard drive). it's pretty nice, once I figured the wallpapers are in /usr/share/backgrounds I had to install obconf and/or lxappearance, and lxtask. the system...
