Re: mint12 RC no panels after nvidia driver install

i cannot seem to recover my launchpad account, maybe you could submit the error report to allow the devs to fix this bug? I can't submit the report for you as the devs may want to contact you regarding it and/or require specific information about your system. Have you just forgotten your account de...

Re: mint12 RC no panels after nvidia driver install

@remoulder why can't you help I can't help because the problem reported is quite likely a bug in what is an unreleased, i.e. still very much in testing, version. If everyone that encounters an error expects this to be resolved by others here, how do you expect problems to be identified to the devel...

I would submit the report, but i seem to have lost my launchpad password, and i never receive the comfirmation code to change it, so i'm stuck at the moment. as for mint 12, thats on a secondary hdd alongside win7, so i still have mint 9 running happy on my main hdd, so i can wait however long is ne...

Re: i need help with compiling(sp?)

The link you provided provides instructions for the installation of ATI_REMOTE, not AV VIEWER. You need to be clear about what you are trying to install, read the INSTALL document contained within the folder. i clicked the link provided in the instructions, av viewer is what it downloaded nevermind...

Re: i need help with compiling(sp?)

Are you sure you changed to the directory of the program? The "cd ati_remote" command. The error is telling you there is no makefile found in the directory you are issuing "make" from. when you decompress it, it doesn't make a "ati_remote" directory, it makes one called "avview-0.80.7" i can cd int...

LXDE 9 with my version of the menu button and deVINE wallpaper available from DeviantART by Jason-C http://i40.tinypic.com/evb7k1_th.png I think the Wallpaper could be considered for future use as an official one unless you are gradually going more monochrome. Just installed Docky after following t...

Is that the Debian Sarge repository ? Why do you need it ? . . updates have been discontinued as of the end of March 2008. Source : http://www.debian.org/releases/sarge/ not sure, i didn't add that one in there, i guess it came with the distro? anyway now that you told me that, i can go remove it

Re: Linux Mint 11 LXDE released!

It is a great trick and comes up on a regular basis on the forum. I seem to remember seeing it in one of the 'Community' pages as well but can't find it right now. The biggest problem with putting it in the instructions is that 99% of people don't actually bother reading anything - they just run th...

Re: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Desktop To Be Supported for Five Years

I'll be curious to see how many non-business users go this route. I admit I'm considering going LTS next Spring, perhaps a dual-boot of Mint and Xubuntu LTS on my netbook, 5 years would probably be the life of, or longer than the life of my netbook. It is nice to have a computer set up the way you ...

Re: experimenting with LMDE found a problem

Is there any BIOS update for your computer available? The built-in speaker is not used by Linux Mint by default. So Mint cannot have made those beeps. Perhaps it's a BIOS issue. There are often BIOS issues which only appear with certain operating systems or versions. A good example are the ASPM pow...

Re: experimenting with LMDE found a problem

for the updates, everytime there's an error from where one can't find a way out my experience shown me that sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade will help at least to diagnose the problem and eventually solve it; for the other issue, not sure, but let's start with uname -a ok decided to...

Re: experimenting with LMDE found a problem

When there's an update to the update manager available, you indeed need to install that update before other updates will install. L2 cache errors may mean that your CPU isn't working right. You can test the memory using the memory test in the boot menu. But I'm not fully sure that it tests the CPU ...
