Sunewbie and Jay, thanks a million for that info! Hopefully Sunewbie's remedy -- if Maya programmers have been alerted to it -- can be instituted into the next Maya update (supposed to be automatic, right?)! I too love Maya over Mac's offerings now. If only this hang-up preventing Desktop slideshow...

Everything processed fine. I saved only the hidden partition sda1, deleted all others, created them againg (some of them inside extended partition), installed OSs... Thanks. there was a typing error
you can go for 3rd option 'Something Else' and then shrink the partition.
It should be 3rd option instead of 2nd
