Re: Only part of text displayed in Spanish

No, don't worry, I was a pleasure. Just one more thing: remember to mark the post as solved, so people facing a similar problem know where to look. Add [SOLVED] to your original thread to indicate that the thread is solved.

Re: Only part of text displayed in Spanish

There is an option for that at the login screen; click on the name of your user (if you are using an user list, if not, type the name of your user and hit enter). After that, there is a prompt that asks for your Password for letting you login; in the lower part of the screen there should be a panel,...

[SOLVED] Either I Borked my Mint or installed a Malware

Hello, Forum Fellas; the easiest way to put this is the following: I need help. I may (not really that unsure about it) have borked my system; I don't know how it happened, much more Why, but it seems that it has: the following is what happened: I was using synaptic when it happened, and installed t...

Extremely Slow Boot

Yes, I have a Wifi USB adapter, it is a TP-Link TL-WN721N, if that is of any good; however I don't think that the Wifi adapter is guilty of the slow boot for two reasons: I had already tried unplugging it when you told me about the 5 second peak; I thought it could be the Wifi searching for a connex...

[SOLVED] Defragging with Tar

Hello, Forum Fellas I have a very corky question about Defragging. I know that it isn't necessary, since fragmentation doesn't happen that often in Ext2, 3 and 4, but since I have a rather small disc (which is shared between Mint an Windows7) and I'm worried fragmentation issues might take place. I ...

Triple Boot; Two Hard Drives

I'll take your advice regarding GRUB; I am afraid of it right now and don't want to learn about GRUB while restoring my system and saving critical data. I managed to boot from both drives by changing the order in which they load (using the BIOS settings), so the smaller one is the first one to boot;...

Extremely Slow Boot

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/24/maquiavelokatya20111120.png/ may work a little bit better for the matter. I'm not really sure; I'm very new at the Mint forums and haven't been able to learn many useful tricks (like the one more advanced users perform to make a word behave like a Link) so I ...

Extremely Slow Boot

I don't really use Skype or anything, and I don't agree with the philosophy of making applications start at boot sequence; I think of it as "If you need it that much as to consider making it launch when you log in, I think you can remember to launch it when you login" :D, well, that's just me. I did...

[SOLVED] Extremely Slow Boot

Hello, Forum Fellas; excuse me if I've been asking a lot of questions lately, it might turn up to be annoying for some of you and kind of makes me feel like a bloodsucker, but I just seem to find myself into a lot of problems lately, so there is no other option that "to ask where they would know" as...

[SOLVED] Problems With MintMenu in Mint 12

Hello, Forum Fellas. I recently installed Mint 12 RC in order to look around what's new. So far I like it, but I'm experiencing some problems; the first (And most important) one is that, for some reason, I'm unable to use MintMenu since it didn't come with the DVD. I thought this wasn't a big deal, ...

MintMenu (Gnome)

Ok, I should correct myself: it just doesn't happen when I skip from the "Favorites" to Applications, it happens backwards too. Every time I use the little option at the top that calls Favorites when you are on all applications and Applications when you are in favorites. Maybe it is a bug (or miscon...

MintMenu (Gnome)

I'm currently using Katya and the menu is NOT custom; I have tweked around a little bit, but it is not relevant to the case (Since it has happened on Untweaked Menus as well); It is Gnome 2.32 and it is practically default (except for some minor arrangements).

MintMenu (Gnome)

Hello, forum fellas; sorry to bother you on such a silly topic, but I have a minuscule (yet, very annoying) problem with the Main Menu. The problem is that (and this has happened to me in every installation I've had after a while) when I'm browsing the Menu using only the keyboard (which I do a lot)...

Triple Boot; Two Hard Drives

Ok, in the same order you asked: The PC is running Mint 11 (Dear Katya), /dev/sda5 on / type ext4 (rw,errors=remount-ro,commit=0) Which tells me Mint is mounted in /dev/sda5, only one big vulnerable partition (I know, I did wrong  ) Hehehehehe. Anyway /dev/sda1:Windows 7 (loader):Windows:chain...

Enable User List in Katya

Ok, I probably did something stupid (since I didn't really want a no-user login screen) and modifyied the behavior of the login screen. Now, not only do I not have a login screen user list, but I find no way of reverting it. Here is the command I used: sudo -u gdm gconftool-2 --set --type boolean /a...

I didn't quite understand what you said (at least not all of it) since I'm a terribly unexperienced Newbie. I do, however, understand a little bit of what you mean and have a little more knowledge about GRUB, but that still doesn't help me a lot. I explained myself wrongly when I talked about the Tw...

[SOLVED] Triple Boot; Two Hard Drives

Hello, forum fellas, I need advice (or else, I'll probably break my system, again ). I'm trying (with no luck whatsoever) to make a triple boot on two different disks. At first, I had only one disc, and had a double boot with Mint and Ubuntu, then, I got a new disc (preinstalled with a crap...
