Re: Hey there! First question...Error with update manager

Well hello and welcome to Linux Mint :) My first advice would be "don't install Katya (Mint 11)"; it is still good and everything, but it will run out of support in october and you will have neither updates nor packages (think of it as installing Windows ME). I am not sure why you picked up Katya bu...

Re: Pretty much decided that Mint is not for me.

Seriously? None of you guys is going to help him? Look, I know he didn't approach the right way (sorry, eatrhshaker, you didn't) and he was fairly unspecific, but the guy has problems and needs some help; none of you have offered to help, all you did was complain about his unclearity and mock his wo...

Re: Prefer Gnome Classic, how to uninstall other options

If I find that Mate works out ok for me, would it then be possible to keep Mate and get rid of gnome altogether? Well of course! it si just another DE, no big deal. MATE and Gnome Shell are completely undependant from each other, so they'll most likely can live separately as easily as they coexist;...

Add option to Lisa to enable fortunes in terminal

Well, the problem can be solved by editing those settings with Gconf and the installing the package "fortunes" (which I wrongly assumed to be installed because of the "Husse Fortunes"). Still, I agree with the over-engeneering, this should be easier to do.

[SOLVED] Firstcoming Cinnamon Theme artist

Yeah, apologies, it needs to be: http://dochub.io/ Then for example in the search box enter "color", and you see all the different CSS properties that you can set for color. You can easily discover which one you need, and how to use it, by reading the short explanation or viewing the live examples ...

Then I must be missing something because all I see is a white text box that doesn't react to input of any kind.

Really? Then forgive my ignorance; I'm pretty new at editing css files and didn't know that; since it is an accepted convention I will complain no more. You win :)

[SOLVED] Firstcoming Cinnamon Theme artist

Sorry didn't see this post or I would have helped. Did see the black text in your theme thumbnail's menu but thought it was just a bad design decision :) css is very easy and straightforward once you get the hang on it - next time something like this happens just search for your colour (color: #000...

Firstcoming Cinnamon Theme artist

Well, after about 1 week of searching and finding nothing at all, I found nothing at all. I am still clueless regarding of how to change the font color in the menus; however, I don't know how, the menus have gotten back to their white color. I'll post again when I find the value that changes it's c...

Nice Wallpaper! Although I concur with the fact that it is in no way a clean wallpaper, you have done a great work making it. Love it, can't really say much more. Good work. Cheers. Danko.

Battery Seems to be Dying...

Nope, it seems very alike (and is a battery percentage problem as well) but the difference is in the fact that my battery does dye as fast as it claims even though it isn't damaged (as I said, my battery works fine in Windows or a Live-USB Linux, but dyes on me faster than ever when I'm using one of...

Battery Seems to be Dying...

Well, Hello once again; I have yet another hardware related issue. My battery seems to be dying, says to be dying appears to be dying and acts like it s dying. That all seems normal and understandable; the problem is it is not. Battery Life in not one but TWO of my LinuxMint installations has been r...

[SOLVED] Firstcoming Cinnamon Theme artist

Well, easy way to say it, I have been having a lot of problems dealing with Cinnamon Themes; most of them I have managed to solve, but there is one very big very important one that I haven't been able to change. I feel kinda silly saying it, but I have absolutely no idea of how to change the popup-m...

Re: graphics

Well, my first suggestion would be dump KDE  Nah, seriously, you don't have to dump it, but it *is* a KDE problem; it is because of the QT underlying technologies that power up KDE; Those make it incompatible (well, sort of) with Gnome and it's GTK based core. The incompatibility is not quite a...

Suspension Problems (Not quite the normal kind)

UPDATE: For whatever reason, suspension seems to be working a bit better now; Same version of mint, same old PC, same bumblebee, same everything (except for Cinnamon, that one is up from 1.3 to 1.4). Suspension isn't damaging libnotify now, but I'll have to do some more testing in order to decide it...

Suspension Problems (Not quite the normal kind)

Hello, forum fellas; it has been awhile now since I had to head to the hardware support forum, but I bought a new laptop and things haven't been so easy since. Overall I like it and, until quite recently, I thought it had no problems; however, I started to notice that some things would simply 'break...

Well, thankyou for the info, but the google search for the terms you told me didn't come up with nothing good; there were a few tutorials, but they were all in a thecnical slang that I did not understand at all; however, there is something in your post that seems potentially helpful You need to find...
