Re: Cinnamon Theme - Void

Hehe, that theme is by debimint :) You simply delete your old Void folders and put the new ones in their place. First, thank you for the response. I know my way around some of the other DEs (e.g. Gnome 2, Xfce, LXDE), but I am still feeling my through Cinnamon, even though I really enjoy using it. ...

Nicely done, Catbuntu!

Re: Please, something that just works!

...I used to happily pay for my copy of Xandros which worked very well until the company decided to destroy itself. Liked Lycoris and Linspire too, but they are no longer around. They had many good ideas which unfortunately haven't been picked up by other distributions that I know of. Come on, now!...

Re: Please, something that just works!

I have tried a lot of linux distributions over the last few years, and am still looking for one that just works out of the box. By that, I mean no command line fixes, updates, etc. with support for my hardware and applications I want to use. My current frustration is with Linux Mint where the Linux...

SOLVED -- Cinnamon Theme - Void

The Void theme is one I use (almost) exclusively. Kudos 'bimsebasse! Anyway, I notice that there is an updated version available under the 'Get New Themes' option of 'Cinnamon Settings'. Since I already have Void installed, I am unclear on what I should do to ensure I have the most current version. ...

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Although it's nice to know I am not nuts, I will doubtless have the 'Dup-Thread-Gods' all over my tail about not researching before I posted  ...

Error Message When I Insert Blank CD/DVD

I am running Linux Mint 14 - Cinnamon. I get the error message attached below whenever I insert a blank CD/DVD, even though after the error message the appropriate app to handle it (K3B) loads over the top of the error message. What am I doing wrong, or do I need to change? Thanks for any help or su...

Re: I'm afraid about Mint's future

I just read the whole article on the state of Windows, and I am not one bit surprised. I really think Windows 8 is a big nail in their coffin. It's going to be a horrendous failure following too closely behind the Vista debacle. I wish it were THE 'big nail in their coffin'; it would be a vast reli...

Re: No terminal in Cinnamon?

I've had Linux Mint 13 MATE 64-Bit installed a few months now, and I'm very happy with it. I run the Terminal app a lot, since I do a lot of command-line stuff. Today, I decided to install CINNAMON alongside MATE. I click on "Open in terminal" whereever I find it, and nothing happens. Terminal does...

Re: Metacity theme problems (permissions?)

Thanks very much hawkeye. I tried it and still have the same issue with the one theme. Installing other downloaded themes doesn't have this problem though. I'm convinced that it is a permission issue, but I've adjusted the permissions quite a bit and so far it didn't help. Is the one you're having ...

Re: Metacity theme problems (permissions?)

My gtk3 theme is fine in the home directory but is completely borked in /usr/share/themes. Spent all day yesterday trying to figure out why and still have no clue. Here's a comparison. Theme in root Theme in home OK, here's a 'try-at-your-own-risk' solution: Open Nemo. Select 'file system' on the L...

Microsoft Proves Techrights Right by Screwing UEFI ‘Partners’ http://techrights.org/2012/11/21/hardware-keys-for-lf/ just started learning about this and this is a couple of weeks old but new to me. And started searching for the legality of this or if it was even legal? Couldn't find anything speci...

Re: Installing themes on Mint 13 MATE 64-bit

I'm burrowing this thread, if that's ok :) I'm on Linux Mint 14 Mate x64, is there any specific site for themes compatible with Mate? Is it the GTK2 section at Gnome-look.org or do anyone have another tip? This is the best place I know of. You can also look in http://linuxmint-art.org/, but this is...

Re: Metacity theme problems (permissions?)

I'm trying to test a theme here in Mint 14 64bit Cinnamon edition. I made it some time ago, and updated it a bit recently. If I use the theme in ~/.themes, it works fine, but if I place the theme in /usr/share/themes and set the theme, it immediately gets overwritten with a different theme (also ca...

Re: Bar Menu Icon

So I am the weird person who prefers the bar style menu versus Mint Menu. This is the one what has Applications, Places, System in a row on my bar at the top of my screen. The icon theme I have enabled has a strange icon on the far left of it. I'd prefer to flat out remove the icon so I just have t...

Ok, thanks. I'll mark it as solved, though it seems strange to me that the functionality isn't included by default.
