Re: Have My Own Email Server?

I saw a few guides, each with very different methods, but each looking quite complicated.

Never mind. I'll give it a bash!

Have My Own Email Server?

Hi all,

I'm quite fed up with Google and their privacy policies. Privacy is this years new black with me, it seems. How can I setup my own email server please? I own a domain name, so that's easy enough. What other considerations do I need to take into account?

Thanks

Sounds like the best option. :)

Paranoid levels of backups and I'll keep an eye on the site.

Re: Disable Screen Blanking Applications

I feel like I've missed a joke or calling it something stupid

Anyway, I noticed it's only occurring in VLC, so I've switched to XBMC. Now to find a handy XBMC remote control application.

Fixed, I hope! I did the following. Anyone tell me what it did or if I shouldn't have done it? sudo /usr/bin/mandb [sudo] password: Purging old database entries in /usr/share/man... Processing manual pages under /usr/share/man... Purging old database entries in /usr/share/man/jp... Processing manual...

Re: Processing triggers for man-db ... /usr/bin/mandb: can't

Hi,

Thanks, this is done as root with sudo. Is there a way to find out what it's trying to do and edit it manually or something? Or manually run the command?

This issue still persists.

Can anyone advice me how to create a USB installation stick with all the needed packages to make this computer work? Liquorix kernel and all include update pack 6?

Thanks

Re: Disable Screen Blanking Applications

So far, I've got the screen to stay awake unless I'm playing a video. With the screen on the desktop, idle for hours the screen stays awake. If I play a video, it sleeps every 10 minutes.

Please help. :(

Re: Disable Screen Blanking Applications

Ok, so it looks like a program called 'caffeine' would work, unfortunately I can't get it to work.

Stupidly I tried to install the .deb, not sure how to uninstall it and building it from source didn't work.

Unfortunately it blanks the screen after about 10 minutes of not being used. I've tried the screen saver settings which are set to two hours (which is as long as I can set i...

Re: Problem With Mirrors?

This I randomly stumbled across. Within /etc/nsswitch.conf I had

Code: Select all

hosts: wins files dns
. I removed the wins and it updated fine after that.
